Michigan’s bittersweet moment

Sherrone Moore won big on National Signing Day. The Wolverines dominated the recruiting game, and it all started with the major flip of No. 1 overall prospect Bryce Underwood. The momentum carried over to Signing Day, where Michigan locked in one of the best recruiting classes in the program’s history. The biggest splash is 5-star OT Ty Haywood, who joined fellow blue-chip OT Andrew Babalola.

The defensive haul was just as impressive, landing two Top 10 safeties, Kainoa Winston and Elijah Dotson, along with Top 15 CB Shamari Earls and No. 4 EDGE Nate Marshall. In total, the Wolverines brought home seven Top 100 recruits.

But even in this almost perfect cycle, there was one heartbreak. And that’s missing out on another top-100 prospect, Zahir Mathis, who was an initial target for the Wolverines. However, the 4-star DE inked his commitment with Maryland, putting all speculations to rest. Despite this gut punch, Moore just built a future natty contender in Ann Arbor.

Ohio State’s coaching update

The reigning National Champions enjoyed consistent success on the recruiting trail. Per 247Sports, Ohio State snagged the top 4 spot on National Signing Day, making this the sixth consecutive year that Ryan Day is finishing with a top-5 overall recruiting class with 26 commits. But the Buckeyes aren’t just focusing on the players alone.

Ryan Day made some big coaching changes by bringing back former Buckeyes WR Brian Hartline as the new OC. He’ll be replacing Chip Kelly, who went to the Las Vegas Raiders for the same role. Coming to the QB room, OSU is naming their assistant coach Billy Fessler as the new QB coach who had OC stints in UCLA and Akron. The Buckeyes also brought in Virginia Tech’s Tyler Brown as the O-line coach. With elite recruits and a refreshed coaching staff, the Buckeyes are poised for another championship run.

Texas’ Growing Stronghold

Nobody topped Steve Sarkisian and Texas in the 2025 recruiting cycle. In their first SEC year, they didn’t just compete; they dominated their conference rivals. From 2016 to 2024, the recruiting game was topped by Georgia (4), Alabama (4), and Texas A&M (1). But the rise of the Longhorns as the No. 1 recruiting class only indicates a growing stronghold. So, who’s the mastermind behind this success?

Texas needs to give credit to assistant coach Chris Jackson. It’s not without reason he’s named the Rivals National Recruiter of the Year for the 2025 cycle. With his recruiting efforts, he brought in four 5-star prospects to their class, which boasts 22 commits. It was the genius of the WR coach that locked them three top-20 receivers—Kaliq Lockett, Dylan McCutcheon, and Jaime Ffrench. The Longhorns now have a roster built to challenge SEC supremacy.
