What usually happens when a team starts losing? Bad words and gestures that have been bubbling up inside as a result of the pent-up frustration get exposed. This is what we saw in Week 4 between Nebraska and Illinois when a Husker player let impulse get over his sense of control. And it’s not a good look for the revamped Nebraska that had been undefeated until this point.

DE Cayden Echternach took out his frustration on an Illinois player by punching him. This triggered displeasure among Nebraska fans, and they aren’t letting this pass by without calling out Echternach on X saying, “#48 on Nebraska is dirty! Kick his a– out!

Despite coming in as a 7.5-point favorite over Illinois, Nebraska found themselves in this highly competitive heated clash. Both the teams secured a field goal each and the QBs have thrown two touchdowns each in the first three quarters of the game as they go into the fourth quarter with a tie.

But amidst the support and admiration, the lack of discipline from Nebraska is costing their sense of respect.

Fans lash at Nebraska’s poor game conduct

Fans took to social media to express their shock and disgust at Nebraska’s unruly field behavior. A disgusted viewer said, “Dirty Nebraska thugs throwing punches at the bottom of piles. Typical!!” This action reflects the Huskers’ lack of discipline and drags their reputation down.

Another user gave the “dirty” label to Nebraska. They wrote, “Nebraska dirty a-f.” The incident occurred in the third quarter as the Cornhuskers made a mistake. Nebraska even failed to move the pigskin forward resulting in a down being called. “Dirty s— by that Nebraska player,” another person wrote. The Huskers had been a favorite team entering Week 4 but their poor conduct has put question marks in the minds of fans.

When Echternach’s action went unaddressed, another person couldn’t conceal their confusion. They wrote, “How is that guy not ejected though.” The Big Ten showdown also exposed fans’ dissatisfaction with the referees who are called out for being biased and throwing a blind eye towards Nebraska’s mistakes. While he might have gotten away with it, this foul play leaves a scar on the program’s brand as more people called out against them. But hopefully, it won’t come in the way of Dylan Raiola’s rise to stardom
