Oh! The things that a football head coach has to face! Kalen DeBoer had to face the fury of Bama fans after his shocking defeat at the hands of an underdog squad. Alabama was so sure they’d win, everyone thought so too. Even former HC Nick Saban said Vanderbilt was the easiest place to play in the SEC. But now, it’s piercing words that ring in the air for Kalen DeBoer. 

The Paul Finebaum Show just dropped a wildly interesting rant by a distraught Alabama fan. Appearing on the segment as LEGEND, he called out Kalen DeBoer for the unexpected loss to the Commodores, a team they haven’t lost to since 1984. The furious fan ranted, “Alabama don’t lose to Vandy. We just lost to Vandy. That is friggin’ pathetic Coach DeBoer.” He added a warning, “The honeymoon’s not only over but we need some serious marriage counseling between me and you dude.”

LEGEND couldn’t digest the fact that Kalen DeBoer would lose something in just four weeks in Tuscaloosa – a 40-year win streak game. Alabama’s 40-35 loss to Vanderbilt was an unforeseen catastrophe that tarnished Kalen DeBoer’s status after four remarkable wins. The frustrated fan even went to the extent of burning a signed picture of Kalen DeBoer following the Saturday night loss. 

Even Kalen DeBoer’s conference speech didn’t fall in favor of LEGEND who had been disappointed beyond belief. After the loss, the new Bama HC said, “I feel we’ve got a great football team. We weren’t at our best today. We’re gonna find out how much we care about each other, and what it looks like moving forward.” The angry fan revealed he was “unimpressed” by his message for talking about the loss like it’s “one game”. After all, they’re too into their winning culture under Nick Saban that a loss to an underdog is humiliation at its best. 

Kalen DeBoer put under pressure following Vanderbilt loss

Kalen DeBoer took the heat for Saturday’s loss as Vanderbilt out-gained Alabama with fewer turnovers and penalties. A big fuss among fans followed after this first defeat of the season. After all, the Crimson Tide even took the No. 1 spot in the AP Poll after beating Georgia in their last 41-34 win. 

But do you think Kalen DeBoer deserves all this criticism? There are good days and bad days in football and the latter happened to take place during a game with an underdog, just as Ole Miss’ unexpected 20-17 loss to Kentucky. Their next game will be against South Carolina, who just got off from a bad loss against Ole Miss. Can DeBoer redefine people’s perception and be the worthy Nick Saban replacement that many think he is?
