Since firing Brian Kelly, LSU looks like a hungry tiger on the hunt, looking out for its next coach. Names like Urban Meyer, Lane Kiffin, and many others keep popping up. But one name that’s taking the entire world by notice is Nick Saban, who’s currently enjoying his ESPN gig and has no plan of returning. Yet analysts like Shaquille O’Neal can’t stop mentioning his name. And the result? His daughter, Kristen Saban, had to step up and clear up the buzz in the most surprising way!

Firing Kelly wasn’t a cheap reset. LSU still owes him around $54 million on a 10-year deal, and multiple reports project the full staff change could push the total bill toward $100 million once they pay for a new staff. Oddsmakers still see this as a more traditional search: Tulane’s Jon Sumrall currently leads the board, followed by Joe Brady and Lane Kiffin, with Saban and Urban Meyer sitting in the long-shot/fantasy category.
Well, the buzz started again when Nick Saban and his wife were seen enjoying Alabama’s basketball game against Purdue, which sure didn’t turn in Bama’s favor as they lost with an 80-87 score. But things got interesting when a fan commented on Alabama’s IG post of both of them enjoying the courtside, saying, “I’m glad he isn’t in Baton Rouge.” To that, Kirsten Saban responded with a disgusted emoji: “Same.” Now, you know how much Saban’s not willing to go to LSU.

This isn’t the first time Kirsten is shut down these speculations. Last month, when CBS Alerts added a list of coaches suitable for the LSU job, Nick Saban’s name was one of them. Even then, she posted an IG story saying, “Some of y’all are literally brain dead.” Well, the frustration makes sense. Saban was not just linked to LSU’s coaching job but also to Penn State after James Franklin was taken out. What’s worse is that despite clarifying his plans, the rumors don’t stop.

Saban has done his best to slam the door himself. Now 73 years old, with seven national titles and a 292–71–1 college record, he told CBS he wants to “stay retired” and questioned whether jobs like LSU and Florida are still truly elite in the NIL era, asking, “They’re traditionally the best jobs, but are they the best jobs now… based on how they’ve adapted to the external circumstances?” In other words, he’s not only uninterested, he’s not even sure the role is what it used to be.

Even LSU AD Verge Ausberry put an end to such speculations, saying, “Nick Saban and I have a standing conversation probably every two or three weeks. We’re good friends, first of all. He’s a person I admire a lot. Coach Saban was joking. No way he’s coming back to football, okay?”
Knowing Nick Saban’s history with LSU, he might seem like a perfect fit, as he led LSU to its first SEC championship since 1986 in 200. Then in 2003, LSU went 13-1 under him, which made a season record for breaking the 11-win mark since 1958. But let’s not forget that with a 292-71-1 overall record and a 15-17 record in the NFL, this man has nothing left to prove.

Even Miss Terry made it pretty clear, shutting down the coaching rumors with a sarcastic jab: “We wouldn’t want to take that opportunity away from all of our baby coaches, like Kirby [Smart] and Lane [Kiffin]. Too much fun. I haven’t heard a number yet.”
Now, the only coaching destination that might interest Nick Saban is the NFL, as this ever-changing NIL and transfer portal era, where players are running behind rather than for excellence, doesn’t sit well with his ideology. “You’ve got all these external factors that are constantly changing… Some of the traditional jobs, like LSU… have they adapted to all these things like they need to?” Saban said.
With coaching rumours Nick Saban’s also urged to take up an important position.

Nick Saban gets another job offer
The reason Nick Saban left the reins at Alabama is now pushing him to return and remove the root cause. That’s right, President Donald Trump knows the only person who can actually tackle the problems caused by the transfer portal and NIL is Saban.

On The Pat McAfee Show, Trump floated Saban as the person who should help redesign the rules around NIL and the portal, saying they ought to let him “take a good, strong look at it” and that he’d personally listen to whatever Saban recommended. It wasn’t a formal position, but it shows how far Saban’s influence reaches: even national politicians see him as a potential architect for whatever the next version of college sports looks like.

At 73, Nick Saban has nothing left to chase, yet the sport he dominated refuses to move on from him. LSU fans dream, analysts speculate, and even presidents want him to fix the chaos the game has become. But the only voice that matters (his) keeps saying he’s done. So here’s your turn: Should college football finally stop dragging Saban’s name into every vacancy, or is there still one job you think he’s perfect for?
