On Saturday, a deja vu moment unfolded for Notre Dame in the fourth quarter at Chestnut Hill. Jeremiyah Love’s electric 94-yard run left the Eagles stunned. But this time around, the Irish RB looked towards his own sidelines as helpless defenders tried to chase him.

The play followed an interception by Adon Shuler. Notre Dame was backed up into their end zone at the 6-yard line, with the score at 18-10. The ball was snapped, and CJ Carr handed it off to Love, who broke into an electric run, outpacing the Eagles’ defense. And just like that, the crowd broke into cheers as the star RB marked his second touchdown of the game.
“Say it with us. All you need is Love,” Notre Dame wrote as it posted the clip on X. Meanwhile, Jason Love, Jeremiyah’s father, gave us the context behind his son’s look towards the sidelines.

“Coach challenged that he couldn’t do 90 yards again, and he was trying to locate him while strolling downfield, proclaiming, “I told you so!” Who was the coach in question here? None other than Ja’Juan Seider, the RB coach of the Irish. He’s the guy behind all the success that the Irish backfield has been having under Freeman.
On his part, Seider didn’t shy away from admitting the whole thing. “Welp 😉,” he wrote under Jason Love’s post. The Irish fans would hope to see him challenge Jeremiyah Love more in the future.

This was the second rendition of Jeremiyah Love’s across-the-field runs. Last year, Love had left the crowd jaw-dropped against Indiana at South Bend. Unlike Saturday’s electrifying run that took place in the fourth quarter, last December, Love broke into a 98-yard run, and it was a record in the making. It was the longest TD run in the history of Notre Dame, and Freeman proudly admitted, “It’s hard to catch Jeremiyah Love.”

What made his 98-yard sprint more remarkable was the fact that he was coming off a knee injury and had the flu prior to the game. “I’ll remember that moment forever,” he said, recalling the moment per the Players’ Tribune. He was not 100%, yet he went all in. “Shoutout my guys, man. I got to run 98 yards to the house but I could feel them with me.”

Jeremiyah Love on his RB room
Nearing the playoffs, Jeremiyah Love has already racked up multiple honors. On October 20, AP named him the National Player of the Week and Doak Walker National Running Back of the Week after he recorded 228 rushing yards, the most recorded by any Irish player. “We believe that every game goes through the running back room,” Love had said post USC game. “So, if we’re on our stuff, the offense is going to be on their stuff. Just be great backs, be great teammates.”
His 98-yard TD highlight reel earned him recognition, along with an impressive resume, as he recorded 17 touchdowns for 1,125 yards during the previous season. Building on that momentum, he chipped in another 90+ yard TD run, boosting his resume and his NFL prospects.
Over eight games into the season, he has already recorded 894 yards for 11 touchdowns. For his remarkable performance, he has been named to the 2025 Walter Camp Player of the Year watchlist. A former four-star recruit, Jeremiyah Love was the No. 5 RB in the Class of 2023. Aside from being a football player, he was a track athlete in high school, recording a 100-meter dash in 10.76 seconds.
