What makes College GameDay so special? Yeah, Nick Saban is on there and you pair that up with Pat McAfee and his electric nature and things get pretty exciting. But you know another part of this show that makes it a nail-biter for the fans? The Field Goal kicking contest. You see, Pat McAfee was an All-Pro Punter and a Pro Bowl. This was during his time with the Colts. So, it just makes sense if he hosts a field goal-kicking contest during College GameDay. But this entire thing comes with a catch. There are prizes!! And not just random stuff like a MacBook or an iPhone or tickets to the latest movie. If you land the FG, you get “cold hard cash”.
With this entire ritual, McAfee has managed to make fans $650k richer. But here’s the deal: there was a lot more that people could’ve won. Front Office Sports took to their Instagram to share a story on this ritual. “Pat McAfee’s College GameDay field goal contest is electric—and this season has had millions of dollars at stake,” Front Office Sports pointed out. Here is the thing. Out of all the attempts, 23 were missed kicks. Do you have any idea how much money that accumulates to? Over $5.2 million. This is a life-changing amount. Only 5 students had managed to crack the 33-yard field goal, and the total winnings amounted to the $650k we mentioned.

There have been a lot of exciting moments stemming from this contest. Remember when Belle Sessions won the drawing and had a chance to be the kicker to win some money? Yeah, so she wasn’t that confident in her ability to land a shot, so she decided to rely on Henry Silver.
The deal was simple. $150k would be split between Bella and Henry if Henry managed to land the kick. Now in classic McAfee fashion, he bumped the prize to $200k. But it didn’t stop there. McAfee decided to go “double or nothing” and pushed the prize to $400k.
And if that wasn’t enough, McAfee mentioned that if Henry lands that kick and gets the prize, then he would also add another $400k to the total amount, but that would be donated to the hurricane relief. Guess what happened? This kid from Indiana shot that football right through the goal. But hey, it ain’t only Pat who loves giving away money. See, another guy decided to follow in McAfee’s footsteps and announce a prize. He almost regretted it.

Timothée Chalamet’s money on the line
It was the most massive weekend in college football. Why? the Dawgs and the Longhorns were facing off for the SEC title. This game was fun. While Steve Sarkisian and his offense and defense were quite strong, Kirby Smart, despite losing Carson Beck to an injury, managed to pull a conference title win. Thank Gunner Stockton for that one, folks.
But coming to the kicking contest. See, Timothée thought it would be a fun idea to add $400k to the contest. See, a kicker missed on his first attempt. Now this got Pat all riled up, and he doubled the initial $200k to $400k. He didn’t stop at that. McAfee went on to ask Timothée if he wanted to add to it, and the actor agreed.

The entire clip shared by McAfee on X was hilarious. Fortunately for both of them, the kicker ended up messing up. From almost getting blown off by a cannon shot to giving out massive prizes on College GameDay. Never change McAfee, never change.
