It seems the whispers about “Kalen DeBoering”, the doubts, the Saban comparisons, the skepticism might finally be over. Since taking over at Alabama, DeBoer hasn’t just maintained the Crimson Tide’s legendary standards, he’s already setting new records. After the longest home game winning streak (15games), Bama is back with another historic achievement.

After their win against Tennessee, Alabama became the first team in the SEC to win 4 straight games against ranked opponents, which included Georgia, Vanderbilt, and Missouri. What’s interesting is that those teams combined have a record of 23-5, and if you don’t count their loss to Alabama, they are 23-1 in the league. So, you know it wasn’t that easy to win against them. That’s exactly what turning heads is, and it’s pretty evident looking at Pat McAfee’s reaction to it as he took to X, posting a 👀 raised eye emoji on the SEC Network’s post of their success. SEC network took to X to celebrate the good news, “The ONLY team in SEC history to beat four straight ranked opponents in four straight weeks.”

Just a month showing immense trust in him, saying, “Kalen DeBoer is a really good coach, and he’s had success everywhere that he’s been. They’ve got to stay focused on getting better, and all these guys have to be committed to the team.” McAfee is back praising DeBoer. Look, after watching Nick Saban on the sidelines for 17 years, taking Alabama to 6 national championships, losing was never an option for DeBoer.

The same level of excellence came in against Missouri when their defense took a step forward, stopping Missouri at just 163 yards on the ground. On top of that, they even held the nation’s top rusher, Ahmad Hardy, to just 52 yards on 12 carries. Despite offensive struggles and recording 4 sacks, Ty Simpson completed 23 of 31 passes for 200 yards with three TDs and also rushed for 7 yards on 10 attempts, posting a QBR rating of 78.6. Even their DE LT Overton turned heads with a record of 1.5 sacks and 1.5 TFL in the win.

Then how can we forget Alabama’s heartbreaking victory against Georgia after 33 years? It was their longest streak among all FBS teams. Georgia was trailing with a 17-7 score against Bama in the first half, and since then, they couldn’t gain momentum. Struggling against missed tackles, giving up 262 yards in the first half. Last but not least, against Vanderbilt, their run game made the most headlines after they got Jam Miller after he missed the first three games because of his dislocated shoulder.

His longest run was for 22 yards, with an average of 6.2 yards per carry. But despite all these successes, DeBoer is focusing on staying calm and focusing on the win. “I still challenge the guys, and they believe it, that the world hasn’t seen Bama’s best yet,” DeBoer said. “That’s really what we’re striving to do.” Now, let’s talk about their next opponent.

Alabama’s real test lies against South Carolina

When Bama’s schedule came out, many analysts predicted that a road trip to South Carolina was going to be one of the toughest games for them. Knowing the fact that they gave Tuscaloosa a tough fight last season with a close loss of 27-25. But it looks like that might not be the case this time, as they are the nation’s best team after winning 6 consecutive games in the season, while the Gamecocks sit on a 3-4 record with a 1-4 SEC record.

Even with the home advantage, things might turn in their favor, as they are already two TDs’ favorites heading into the game. “You always draw on the experiences, and the moment we’re in right now, there is momentum,” DeBoer said. “There’s things that we’re doing well. There’s things that I know our guys have as far as goals, individually, as a team, that we haven’t even come close to reaching yet. So, taking those experiences from the past, good and bad, that we’ve been through, understanding that it comes down to our preparation and just locking in what we can control.”

So far, Alabama’s offense is averaging 422.7 yards per game, which is ranked 8th, with 297.1 passing and 125.5 rushing yards. Interestingly, Bama already holds a 12-4 win record over South Carolina, and this will be their first trip to Columbia since 2019. Now, it will be interesting to see if Bama can hold on to its winning record or not.
