The moment blended perfectly with the energy surrounding University Park. Penn State alumni Aiden and Ally became engaged in front of Old Main, the iconic symbol of campus life. In an interview with ESPN College Football, Ally recalled their journey together, “We met here back in 2018. We’ve been dating for seven years, and we started our love story here at Penn State. When I was a sophomore, Aiden was a junior,” she said to ESPN College Football. Aiden further let us in on why to engage on this particular day. The answer rolled off his tongue, a true Nittany Lion. He had to make a big surprise, and what else could be the biggest thing happening at the University Park besides the clash against Oregon?

“It’s the biggest game of the year,” Aiden replied. “I had to do this game. I knew I wanted to do it at the Whiteout.” The Penn State experience was a major part of his decision. Ally further wishes that GameDay keep coming back to the campus in the future, continuing the White Out tradition. “And hope game day keeps coming, and it’s wonderful,” she said. “You know, we’re going to now go to Penn State games for the rest of our lives.”

The stakes are absolutely high at the White Out

Presently, it appears to be a cut-throat competition. According to ESPN Analytics, Penn State sits at  50.6%, while the Ducks are predicted to win, with 49.4%; a very minuscule margin. Both programs are going undefeated into the season. The No. 3 Penn State with (3-0), while Dan Lanning’s No. 6 Ducks are going (4-0) into the season. Last campaign’s biting defeat left a bitter aftertaste at University Park, 37-45, but this time, Franklin is determined to change the narrative.

Fox analyst Urban Meyer has also jumped onto the bandwagon. Naturally, fans would have expected him to pick his ex-roster. However, Meyer has picked the Ducks to emerge victorious. “Yeah, on tape it’s Oregon,” Meyer said on The Triple Option podcast. “Oregon’s going to win the game.” He added that it is going to be a walk-off and one of the ‘great games’ of this season.

He continued. “You know, that’s a seven-pointer, man. I’m gonna say Oregon’s gonna win the game, but it’s gonna be a walk-off. It’s gonna be a field goal or a missed field goal by Penn State,” he concluded. He further added that Oregon, in his opinion, is the most difficult offense to defend. Presently, the Ducks rank No. 7 in offense, averaging 50.8 points per game.
