Penn State came into the Wisconsin game as the No. 3 ranked team with a 6-0 record. Little did they know, they were about to lose their star QB Drew Allar, in the first half. The 20-year-old suffered an apparent knee injury in the second quarter, which led to grim incidents before the third quarter.

In a video uploaded on X on October 27, Drew Allar was seen walking up to coach James Franklin and talking during halftime. He had a knee brace on and then removed his helmet and interacted with some of his teammates. While it’s not clear, he appears to be wiping his tears before retreating to the bench.

In another X post, Drew Allar’s emotions got the best of him as he was filmed cussing at someone while on his way back to the locker room. He was on fire against the Badgers, completing 14 of 18 passes for 148 yards and a touchdown. But before the end of the second quarter with the Nittany Lions trailing 10-7, he suffered a sack which will now put him out of the second half.

For his replacement, redshirt sophomore Beau Pribula will be filling in for the second half. The former 3-star recruit didn’t start any game in his three years at Penn State. This season, however, he recorded 102 passing yards and two touchdowns along with 105 yards on the ground in their six wins. But can he maintain the momentum of the Nittany Lions’ success?

Drew Allar’s injury puts Penn State success at risk

Drew Allar missing games comes with a high risk as he’s been a real force this season leading Penn State with 1,492 yards and 11 touchdowns with his latest win against USC in a 33-30 OT victory. For the first time since 2017, they’re in the top 3 of the AP Poll ranking as one of the few undefeated teams so far. As of Week 9, Penn State is at No. 29 in passing production among FBS teams.

In their last six games, they’re averaging 270 yards per game. They’re also No. 29 in the nation in scoring offense average with 34.2 points per game. As of now, the two things we can hope for are that Pribula will not disappoint as a backup and Allar’s injury won’t keep him away from Camp Randall Stadium for too long. After all, things will be at stake when Penn State meets No. 4 Ohio State at Beaver Stadium on November 2.
