Is there anything more gripping than the CFB narrative right now with the playoffs around the corner? The suspense, the forecasts, the endless commits, and the flip, what an exciting time of the year. With the 12-team CFP rankings finally here, fans and analysts are eager to hear what experts have to say. Following the announcement of the rankings, teams like Oregon and Ohio State are ranked top, as expected. However, you have a strong orator in Rece Davis here who unveils the reality of Kirby Smart’s Georgia in terms of its CFP rankings in his opinion.

At the ESPN College GameDay Podcast, Rece Davis shared his thoughts about the position of teams in CFP rankings, stating, “If you look at the selection committee protocol and criteria it is simply to select the best teams.” Rece then broke the silence regarding Georgia’s playoff ranking by saying, “I will say is if you are screaming for Indiana and Texas for that matter to be ranked highly; and you are screaming that I just want them you know win the games, doesn’t really matter who they play! But if you play Georgia schedule and you lose two you’re out or if you lose three if Tennessee kicks a 62 yard field goal and beats you between the hedges you are done, If that’s what you’re saying you have a right to say it”

Making sure he makes his point, Davis continues, “But I am not here to listen. hey SEC play 9 game.. you cant have it both ways.. If you’re gonna say 100th ranked schedule is no.5 and you’re good with that.. and the no.1 schedule is not worthy the playoff, then I don’t wanna hear the other stuff” Now, Rece is in no mood to hear Georgia whining on about their SEC being a much tougher battle. In fact, this quote from him,”They (Indiana) are better than Georgia, I am here for it!” Talk about taking sides. This guy would score a touchdown for Indiana if he could! It is inspirational to see someone backing the system and calling out Georgia amidst all the chatter about the rankings.

It appears that all the factors should be determined properly before revealing the CFP ranking, since focusing only on Georgia’s season-long record is illogical when considering other teams’ schedules. However, the program is not in a great position this season because Kirby Smart’s actions and the QB1 are both highly questioned.

Is Kirby Smart going to bench its QB1?

We are aware that many people had high expectations for Georgia’s starting quarterback, Carson Beck, but he has fallen short of the Heisman standards and let many down. Due to his consecutive subpar performances, some have suggested that Smart should allow backup QB, Gunner Stockton, an opportunity to shine. Thoughtful proposal, but will Smart purchase it?

Apparently not, due to what Smart stated regarding benching Beck. The rivalry is becoming more fierce going forward, but it appears that Smart has his strategies set. The Bulldogs will play Tennessee next week, and Smart has faith in his quarterback: “We’ve got a quarterback who’s completely competent, capable, and understanding of our system that gives us the best chance to win.” For the past several weeks, Smart has been standing up for Beck. But now, it’s high time for Smart and Co. to do something about it.

On top of this, Beck struggled in the last game, but the O-line was unable to keep him safe in the pocket. Hence, Georgia has issues regarding its O-Line too. Now, if the Bulldogs hope to have any chance of making the playoffs, they must fix that against a formidable Vols defense.
