Buckeyes have always had a passionate and dedicated fanbase. But being an undefeated team gives you that extra cherry on top. Each week more and more people from other fanbases will turn up to see if this will be the first loss for them this season. And each week, they go back disappointed. Ryan Day is on a mission to conquer the football world this season. And he has the talent to do that, especially at QB.

Alabama is leading the pack, closely followed by Tennessee and Georgia. Then there is a clear fall off of a million viewers, followed by Texas, Oklahoma, and LSU. It also must be noted that every other program in the top 10 is an SEC team. The Buckeyes are the lone exception. Despite the curse of noon games, the Ohio faithful will always make time to see their favorite team play.
But it is more than just loyalty. The production is unlike any other in the Power 4. The defense is on a historic run under Matt Patricia, allowing only 5.86 points per game on average. And the offense is so good that other programs might just poach OC Brian Hartline to be their next head coach. The stats also speak for themselves, whether it is their offense (1062 Rushing Yards, 1958 Passing Yards, 33 total TDs) or their defense (405 total tackles, 21 sacks, 5 FF, and 5 FR). Coach Day has made this Ohio State program the gold standard for all others to look up to.

The Buckeyes are currently standing at number two in the Big Ten Conference table due to their bye week. The Indiana Hoosiers top the league table with eight wins and zero losses. But that is just a statistical aberration. Everyone knows the team to beat this season is in Columbus. But it won’t be easy, especially since the man playing QB has just joined an elite class of players.

Julian Sayin shortlisted for QB award
This is the first season for Julian Sayin as the starting QB for OSU. As of Week 9, he has scored 19 TDs and 1872 total yards so far. He also has an impressive 80% completion rate. His performance has earned him a spot in the prestigious Davey O’Brien QB class of 2025. This is a great honor for the the former five-star recruit who had entered the season with a fair share of analysts raising doubts about his abilities.
The Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award is presented annually to the nation’s best college quarterback and is the oldest and most prestigious national quarterback award. The 49th Annual Davey O’Brien Awards Dinner honoring the winner will be held Monday, Feb. 16, 2026, at The Fort Worth Club in Fort Worth, Texas.

The list of semifinalists selected from the QB Class will be named on Wednesday, Nov. 12. The Foundation will announce the three finalists two weeks later (Tuesday, Nov. 25). The 2025 Davey O’Brien Award winner will be unveiled live on ESPN on Friday, Dec. 12, during The Home Depot College Football Awards.
After a well earned bye week, OSU and Sayin will host the Nittany Lions at The Shoe. Penn State is currently in turmoil with a 4 game losing streak and an interim coach desperate to steady the sinking ship. This should be an easy game for the Buckeyes. Even historically, OSU has dominated this rivalry 24-8 with their last loss to the Nittany Lions coming all the way back during the 2015-16 season. Can the Buckeyes continue their winning streak, or will Penn State be able to pull out the biggest upset of the season and put an end to their dominance?
