There is nothing more people love than to watch their heroes fall and burn. Travis Hunter had declared open war on every QB and every Heisman prospect out there, back on the Outta Pocket Show. With him not being able to show his moves off against Kansas State because of the shoulder injury, Travis Hunter wanted back in on the action, and the Arizona game was supposed to be his moment to shine. But here we are.

Bleacher Report took to X to point out, “Travis Hunter will not play the rest of Colorado-Arizona game after reaggravating his injury suffered last week.” Pulling Hunter out of the turf was a precautionary action from Deion Sanders and Co. Hunter had managed to lock in 54 snaps during the Wildcats game and we all know that he wanted to do more. The entire scene opened the floodgates of trolls pointing fingers at Hunter. “Say goodbye to that Heisman,” was what one fan pointed out after the news was shared.

This is a bad look for Travis. Even if we roll back the tape of the 2023 season, Hunter’s overall performance was affected heavily because of the lacerated livery injury he had suffered during the Colorado State showdown. It caused him to be sidelined for 3 back-to-back games and it cost Deion Sanders more because one of his heavy hitters from the offense was out.

For Arizona, Coach Prime doesn’t have to worry about winning because Shedeur Sanders and the rest of the O-line and D-line are doing a perfect job of keeping everything in check. However, Hunter getting injured yet again begs the question if he is pushing himself way too hard.

We all know that this guy wants the Heisman badly. Not just him. Many analysts have ranked him on their top 3 Heisman candidate list. After what he pulled against Baylor, Rams, and Knights, he deserves the cup, but at what cost?

Is Heisman a distant dream for Travis Hunter?

“Not my Heisman,” was what one person on X pointed out while sharing a highlight clip of Ashton Jeanty. Following this, another person on X noted, “‘Jeanty doesn’t do what I do’ Ur right Travis, he doesn’t get hurt.” The entire Jeanty vs Hunter debate has been going on for a while now. Back in Outta Pocket, Hunter had called out Jeanty. See, in just 6 games, Ashton has managed to rack up 1248 yards. You gotta give that guy some credit for it.

But for Hunter? He hasn’t even reached half of it. Standing on 587 yards, Hunter has a long way to go before he manages to compete with Jeanty. Yes, he has pulled major plays for the Buffs, but it just ain’t enough. Keep in mind that Hunter ain’t only competing with Ashton. He is also going against some of the top QBs in the country.

“Jeanty would never,” another person noted on X. Ashton hasn’t had any major injuries till now. Coach Prime probably should’ve kept Hunter on the sideline for the Arizona game as well. He needs time to recover. Finally, another person mentioned, “There goes the Heisman.” Let us not go there yet. There are still a couple of games left on Colorado’s schedule and we never know when things can turn around.
