The Vanderbilt Commodores are 4-0 after defeating the Utah State Aggies this Saturday by 55-35 at their home, FirstBank Stadium. This is the best start for the Commodores in nearly 20 years. And much of the credit lies at the door of QB Diego Pavia. Diego dominated the play from the start, covering 400 yards for 6 touchdowns, and alone contributed 42 points, which is higher than the Aggies’ combined points. Pavia was indeed trending after the match, but not for his on-field heroics.

After the win over Utah State, the 4-star QB was interviewed by the SEC sideline reporter Alyssa Lang. While being live on the broadcast, Diego sang the school’s alma mater song, placing his hand on Alyssa Long’s shoulder, and swaying side to side. The clip got viral on the internet, and fans were not too impressed with Diego’s actions, claiming that Lang was looking a bit uncomfortable.

For context, Alyssa Lang graduated from the University of South Carolina, an SEC school rival of Vanderbilt. This could be a potential factor for not singing along with Diego and for her uncomfortable looks. Two weeks ago, Diego’s Vanderbilt defeated her alma mater, South Carolina, 31-7, ending their 16-game losing streak since 2008. Diego played a major part, passing 18 of 25 attempts for 177 yards for two touchdowns.

Alyssa reacted to the clip and wrote, “Thanks for not making me chase you across the field today @diegopavia02,” referencing their interview last year. Last year, after Vanderbilt defeated the No.1 Alabama by 40-35, Alyssa had to navigate through a sea of people to get Pavia. She received a major shoutout from the media persons and CFB fans for getting the interview, despite the huge celebration.

Meanwhile, Diego Pavia also previewed the Commodores’ next matchup against the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Diego Pavia is Excited for Alabama in Tuscaloosa

Diego Pavia’s Vanderbilt is set for a tough challenge next week, as they take on the Alabama Crimson Tide at Bryant-Denny Stadium. This is the first time Diego will be playing there, and he expressed his excitement in the post-game interview. “Yeah, Tuscaloosa will be a good, fun time,” Pavia said. “You know, I never played there. I think a few of the guys have been there. But this is what you come to the SEC for, big games like this. So, really excited to go down there and check them out.”
