The Colorado Buffaloes under Deion Sanders in 2025 are 2-3 this season, with losses coming against Georgia Tech, Houston, and BYU. The offense has found it hard to replicate its 2024 success, and the team is ranked 92nd nationally in total offense. The pass rush, too, which had been a strong point for the Buffs last season, has regressed under Warren Sapp. There’s then no doubt that the team is feeling the absence of players like Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter. However, when Shedeur was asked about the Buffs’ regression, he had an interesting reply.

Shedeur Sanders is at the Cleveland Browns now and is the third-string quarterback behind Dillon Gabriel and Joe Flacco. However, he still follows the Buffs diligently and keeps track of their performances. So, when Deion Sanders Jr, in his recent Well of Media video, FaceTimed Shedeur and asked about his thoughts on the Buffs’ regression, the Browns QB had said an important thing for the players.

What’s up, man?” asked Deion Jr.  “Hey, bro. Stay focused, bro. Stay focused. Process,” said Shedeur Sanders. Deion Jr at the Buffs practice field asked Shedeur some advice for the players and the team. “You got any wisdom for the buffs right now? You know, it’s tough out here, boy,” said Deion Sanders Jr. Shedeur, without any hesitation, replied quite bluntly.

“I shouldn’t see any laughing, no smiling,” said Shedeur. That essentially describes the attitude Shedeur wants with the Buffs’ players. The QBs, for instance, in Kaidon Salter and Ryan Staub, have been awful so far and have taken 11 sacks combined. Staub, in particular, has struggled and has a 57.8% efficiency. The O-line hasn’t improved, but regressed after the 2024 season, and the protection it has given to the QBs and aided the running game minimally. A change of attitude is surely needed, and even Deion Sanders is missing Shedeur and co.

“When that last second clicked off that clock and you saw the 00s, just going across the field to shake Coach (Sonny Dykes’) hand and just seeing Shedeur (Sanders) face Travis (Hunter) and the whole team, and in the locker room, it was pandemonium,” said Coach Prime ahead of his TCU game in Week 6. Colorado, right now, has several things to improve in the trenches and in terms of selecting a QB1. The running, however, which was minimal last year, has seen massive improvement with the team notching up 737 yards so far. We could then surely see Deion Sanders trying to rely on the unit even more for a comeback. As for Shedeur, he’s busy charting his own comeback on the gridiron at the Cleveland Browns.

Shedeur Sanders adopts an innovative way to avoid the media

Shedeur Sanders, drafted at 144th overall in the 2025 NFL draft, was never expected to start at the Cleveland Browns. Ahead of him were QBs like Joe Flacco and Dillon Gabriel still battling for the QB1 spot. The former Buffs QB, however, was relentless and finally started in a preseason game, completing 14 of the 23 passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns. The QB1 spot was still too elusive for Shedeur going into the season, but everything has changed after Joe Flacco’s struggles.

Although the team named Dillon Gabriel as the QB for the time being, many still expect Shedeur to start since the Browns’ QB regression is as old as time itself. Shedeur, recently in a press conference, was asked the same question about the QB1 battle. However, Shedeur continued to exude his stoic attitude and refused to give anything to the media. Instead, the guy turned into a mime and mouthed words silently without answering questions. The stance from Shedeur seems to be clear: He doesn’t want to ruin it all, after coming this close to becoming QB1.

Joe Flacco under center has struggled so far and hasn’t thrown a touchdown pass in the last two games. The Browns, like always, have lost 3 games already and won just one against the Green Bay Packers. While Dillon Gabriel is now the QB1, the injury issues for the former Oregon QB have persisted in the offseason, and the possibility of one bad performance can finally take Shedeur under the Browns’ center.
