Shedeur Sanders’ pantomime interview was a calculated response to the criticism thrown at him, which does not seem to be stopping anytime soon. This unfolded the same week in which Dillion Gabriel was named the Browns’ starting QB ahead of the game in London. The pantomime interview is tied to Rex Ryan’s “embarrassment” rants, in response to which Sanders mouthed answers with no voice at all, as cameras started rolling in the locker room. The clip started going viral quickly and split the fans around the nation, with some calling him out on this clownery while others appreciated the humor.

Ryan’s critique was a response to Sanders’ unapologetic confidence in his NFL readiness. He said, “If you see the quarterback play in the league right now, I know I’m capable of doing better than that. I don’t think playing [or] not playing is in my hands. Based on the situation … I’ll be out there and I’ll be ready to play. I’m ready to play right now.” This was met with some harsh words from Ryan Rex, who said Shedeur should “Quit being an embarrassment that way.”

Ryan’s critique was met with a lot of opposition, with Shedeur’s mother, Pilar, calling Ryan’s words “cancerous” in a now-deleted story and Deion appreciating Shedeur’s pantomiming. And now, yet another member of the Sanders family has joined the buffet, taking subtle shots at Ryan Rex. Deion Sanders Jr., Shedeur’s elder brother, just posted on X, “People that ‘blend in’ trying to teach people that ‘stand out’ how to ‘blend in.’ Basically, advice on how to be average.” The message really fits the entire family’s well-documented efforts to shine in the crowd and their competitive edge.

But that’s not all, either. Sanders Jr. posted yet another tweet saying, “‘Happy to be here,’ people will never understand the mentality and ways of people that desire greatness.” Some people have read the mime video as petulance, while others have read it as a player who is not content with being a backup and is vocal about his confidence. Sanders Jr is definitely the latter. And it’s been a theme of each of Deion’s offspring’s lives. Every word they utter gets criticized, and everything they do gets blown out of proportion. So, the hate has been constant.

Sanders has offered brief words amid the storm that has been brewing around him, as the team has moved with Gabriel for London. Moreover, the backup QB is still Joe Flacco and not Shedeur. He still is the third-string QB. But that’s why confidence is important, and being vocal is important. Because in this league, your plays matter, but your perception also matters. Shedeur has worked on the latter; now he just has to prove that the former backs it up.

There’s yet another controversy that has been gaining steam about Shedeur Sanders

Shedeur Sanders’ QB coach is not allowed in the Browns’ facility

Emmanuel Acho said in a recent episode of his show,  “If you are working out on your off-day and you are on the roster, why are you not working out at the facility? Why aren’t you working out with your QB coach?” The context is exactly what he said. On his off days, Shedeur Sanders does not work in the Brows’ facility. But why? A fan came up with the answer.

A fan commented on Acho’s video, “His QB throwing coach probably ain’t allowed in the facility,” hinting at Shedeur’s personal QB throwing coach. And if you think this could be just another speculation, Deion Sanders Jr amplified this comment by reposting it and basically confirming that it’s real.

Now, most facilities restrict non-club personnel for competitive secrecy, and that makes a lot of sense. Organizations only permit outsiders if they are under contracts or bound by an NDA, so Brown’s not allowing Shedeur’s personal coach is logical. But Shedeur not being comfortable with the Browns’ QB coach also rings alarms. Anyway, his practice on off days with his personal coach is the perfect solution to the dilemma that he has found himself in.
