Shedeur Sanders absolutely commanded attention at Colorado’s pro day. With everyone watching, he stepped up, cool as a cucumber. Scouts from all over the league were locked in on his every move, and he put on a clinic— his accuracy was spot on, his feet were quick, and he had that signature calm in the pocket. Word is he completed 58 out of 63 passes during the workout, that’s over a 92% completion rate. Okay, it’s not a regular game scenario, but still seriously impressive. But you know what really got people talking? It wasn’t just his throws; it was what he said after that really resonated.

We already know Shedeur Sanders has been doubted before. First at Jackson State and then at Colorado. So when CU Buffs reporter Scott Proctor asked him how comfortable he’d be in a “rebuild” situation in the NFL, his response was vintage Shedeur—blunt, confident, and straight from the heart. Proctor posted the exchange on X on April 6 for the world to see. I don’t think Jackson State or Colorado had a winning history before I got there,” the former Buffs QB said.

So, it’s just another day on offense and another year on offense for me. It’s the same thing over and over. So that’s what I enjoy about life because I understand how to approach different situations and what to do different. So I’m just thankful for the opportunity. Whoever draft me, whatever pick, it truly don’t matter to me because I know it myself, who I am and what I bring to the table. Whoever sees the value in that will be lucky to get me.” Just like that, 32 teams were put on notice.

Let’s not forget the receipts. Before Shedeur Sanders, Jackson State had a rough 15-29 record over four seasons. Then he showed up, and they flipped to an impressive 23-3 in just two years, making their first-ever Celebration Bowl appearances. Same kind of story at Colorado. They were struggling at 15-33 in the four years before he got to Boulder. But with Shedeur at QB, they went 13-12 in two seasons. Okay, it’s not a national championship, but that’s a program-changing impact right there. Going from 4-8 in 2023 to 9-4 in 2024? That’s the kind of guy who can flip a culture fast.

Shedeur Sanders even flipped the script on an ESPN reporter who asked about the most important trait in a QB. Instead of giving a straight answer, he fired back—”Let me ask you a question. What’s the most important trait of a quarterback?” The reporter gave a typical answer—“Decision-making and accuracy,” which he already excels in. The 23-year-old replied, “Consistency… Look at the last four years.”

In the last four years of his collegiate career across JSU and Colorado, he threw for 14,300+ yards, 134 TDs, and completed 74% of his passes in 2024 while playing behind a mid O-line. “All I need is opportunity. Simple,” he said. “Whatever franchise wants to change the franchise, there’s no doubt who to go with. I’ve done it over and over and over. So you’ll be a fool not to pick me.” And here’s where Deion Sanders steps in too.

Deion Sanders hints at a potential destination for Shedeur Sanders

Deion Sanders rocked the Buffs Black and Gold on Colorado’s pro day. As speculation grew on Shedeur Sanders’ ultimate destination and whether he’d be a top-10 pick, he brought the New Orleans Saints up. First, it’s light—“I like the colors. I like the city, I like the food, I like the people, I like the possibilities.” Then he starts repeating, “I like these (black and gold) colors.” Three times! A not-so-subtle nod to a team that just so happens to need a long-term QB solution and holds the No. 9 pick.

Think about it. Derek Carr is getting older (34). And while the Saints have taken swings at guys like Jake Haener and Spencer Rattler, they haven’t had a true franchise QB since Drew Brees. Shedeur Sanders could be that guy. There’s also some smoke around the New York Giants at No. 3 as well as the Las Vegas Raiders at No. 6 who need a future face of the franchise.

Shedeur Sanders isn’t just betting on himself; he’s daring NFL teams to doubt him. His confidence doesn’t always sit well with most people but his history backs his resilience and competitiveness.
