It’s never a thrill to try to keep the house together during a storm. But right now in Ann Arbor, Sherrone Moore‘s caught in the middle of that. He’s already got a two-game suspension hanging over him in 2025 and a potential NCAA hammer ready to drop. And now, his elite commit had just the kind of visit to an SEC powerhouse that’s making Michigan fans wary.

It’s a 6’1, 185-pound CB from the class of 2026. On3’s No. 16 CB and the No. 19 player in the state of Florida. He’s been pretty locked in with the Wolverines since July last year. But this summer, he’s giving tension to Sherrone Moore and co. “It’s pretty good,” he said of Michigan. “Pretty good. But I’m seeing schools.” And this “seeing schools” phase led him straight to the Plains on May 16.

On May 18, Auburn insider Jeffrey Lee took to X to drop a big recruiting bombshell on Brody Jennings. He reported that Michigan’s 4-star CB commit “took an official visit to Auburn this weekend.” Yeah, Auburn rolled out the orange carpet. And by the words of the Jacksonville native, it was a blast. “It definitely checked all my boxes. And not only did I love the visit, but my family loved the visit. Everybody loved the visit.” A pretty locked-in verdict on the Tigers, right?

Brody Jennings is a name Michigan fans don’t want to see trending on Auburn Twitter. But the Tigers’ staff has been aggressive in their push. CBs coach, Wesley McGriff, aka Coach Crime, has been in his ear for weeks. Even before the OV, the young guy was sold on the SEC school and the coach. “I have high standards for myself and Coach Crime has high standards for his DBs which I love because he says that’s “Top Shelf” meaning to do something that’s Successful or better yourself!” he said. “He’s a coach that wants to develop you, make you a great player and person. Not good, great!

Auburn is no stranger to this game. Remember last cycle? The Tigers almost snatched Michigan DL commit Nathaniel Marshall. Now, they’ve got Brody Jennings on their radar. And with statements like “I love Auburn a lot. It’s a great fit,” this one’s not just smoke. It’s fire. And he’s got the goods.

The Mandarin High School star racked up 29 tackles, three pass deflections, two fumble recoveries, and an interception in 2024. The Wolverines will get the last OV on June 21. Can they close the deal? Because all these are unfolding while Sherrone Moore’s got the NCAA breathing down his neck.

Sherrone Moore’s got bigger problems

The root cause of Sherrone Moore’s problems dates back to the 2023 sign-stealing saga starring Connor Stalions. The now Michigan HC was then the OC who allegedly deleted 52 text messages with Stalions the day the story broke. And that isn’t helping his case. The school already imposed a two-game suspension on him heading into the 2025 season. But there’s only growing tension with a potential NCAA verdict looming.

You may want to brace yourselves for not having a headache coach on the sideline and practice, I guess, for maybe four games or six,” James Yoder warned on his podcast. “The NCAA is looking to pin something on Moore. He’s kind of the last guy standing.” With the Committee of Infractions hearing set for June 6-7, the verdict could reshape Sherrone Moore’s entire season. And there are some who foresee a grimmer picture than game suspensions

Recruiting turbulence, program pressure, and a ticking clock. Sherrone Moore’s summer is about holding the walls together while the walls shake.
