The legendary coach Jim Harbaugh was suspended late last year in connection with an alleged cheating scandal. During that time, Michigan unveiled its new coach, Sherrone Moore. Under Moore’s coaching, Michigan beat Penn State and Ohio State with a record of 4-0 but could not win the national title. However, the appreciation did not stop there, as the 30-day transfer window did not attract a single Wolverine because of this friendly and humble coach.

The intriguing fact is that Moore preserved the balanced locker room culture created by Harbaugh and consistently emphasized rule compliance among players. The culture mainly comprises improving players, selfless guidance, competitive spirit, strategic adaptability, and more. For keeping this culture on and off the field, Michigan’s rising star, Zeke Berry, was impressed by their coach, Moore, and he made some praising statements in an episode of Behind the Uniform.

Zeke shares a good connection with Moore

On August 20, 2024, in a Season 2 episode of Behind the Uniform with The Michigan Insider, Zeke was asked about the vibe of their new coach Moore: “He is the weight room working out with us.” Moreover, he added, “You know even in the team meeting he told us that the culture is not going to change and we got a standard that’s going to be here and we just going to stay there the whole year.” It seems like Moore is firmly committed to the culture of Harbaugh’s locker room.

Not only for keeping the culture but also for his humble nature, Zeke shared a deep connection with Moore. On this note, he mentioned, “He loves all his players. You know he says hi to everybody. It doesn’t matter if you’re a walk-on scholarship guy.” So, you can imagine how friendly Moore is as a head coach of Michigan. Let me tell you that the coach also held a feeling of pride for Michigan’s defensive back, Zeke Berry, and once he said, “But Zeke Berry, man, he’s had a heck of a spring. And he showed that potential last year and you can see flashes.” However, the defensive back has a fabulous relationship with other Michigan coaches, too, like Coach Wink, Coach Morgan, and so on.

Zeke’s thoughts regarding other coaches

As a safety, Zeke has a good relationship with coaches like Wink, Morgan, and more. However, coaches plan to put Zeke in the nickel position. When describing coach Wink, Zeke stated, “He is older, but he is cool.” Moreover, he added, “He’s going to make me grow a lot more” with his knowledge and brain.

Conversely, Coach Morgan was impressed with Zeke’s performance because he realized Zeke’s true potential as a nickel. Additionally, Morgan’s coaching style attracted the young player, and he mentioned a “coaching style calm, a lot calmer,” which would help the star player to groom.
