As the Sanders family hosted a big Draft Day party at University of Colorado Boulder, little did they know that the projected day-1 pick Shedeur would have a free fall all the way to the final day. So while they sat, all dressed up in their Texas home in front of the screens, waiting for the NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to call their names, Deion’s words kept echoing, “Both of y’all, you’re resilient.” And that’s when the QB of the family finally went as the 144th pick to the Cleveland Browns. And then came the turn of the other Sanders in the draft. As Goodell called out Kobee Minor’s name for the New England Patriots, it was another emotional roller coaster for Deion– His son Shilo went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft. But then came the call.
Not even after a few hours since the Draft was wrapped up, Shilo’s phone rang. And as if destiny wanted a golden ending for the 25-year-old, it was the Tampa Bay general manager Jason Licht, calling to get Shilo over to Florida as an undrafted free agent. Turns out, it was all because of a last-minute decision that the Colorado alum made– signing an agent. And he was quite open about it when over the weekend he live streamed on Twitch saying, “Dad was our agent, but that hasn’t been working out too good. So today I had to sign with an agent.” Enter NFL agent Drew Rosenhaus, who made all the difference for the young talent.
Although it was too little too late to bring in Rosenhaus, the seasoned agent still worked his wonders. “After the draft his agent reached out if we would be interested – Todd [Bowles] & I looked at each other nodded & said ya let’s do it,” that’s how Licht put it on what Drew did for Shilo. And just like that, the safety will now have a platform to prove his worth. No wonder, he had a message for the team that took a chance on him.

“Thank you, God, for everything! & Thank You @buccaneers for believing in me #Headachegang™️ CEO,” said Shilo through his Instagram account wearing the Bucs cap, standing in his garden and probably talking to Licht.
Through ACL injury at Jackson State and broken forearm later on, Shilo has had his fair share of setbacks. But he knows they don’t limit you, and that’s the reason he is out there again fighting against all the odds and thanking the Bucs for this opportunity. Even Deion didn’t hold back.
“I’m very thankful. Tampa’s a wonderful spot,” Deion said on the family’s Twitch stream following the draft Saturday. “Coach [Todd] Bowles is a defensive-minded guy. He’s brilliant.” Later, Joe Bucs Fan shared what Licht told them, “Coach Prime called him Saturday night and thanked him for giving [Shilo] a fair shot.” Now, here comes the interesting part: Tampa Bay didn’t even want to take Shilo in the first place.

Did Shilo Sanders' undrafted status fuel his fire to prove everyone wrong with the Buccaneers?
Have an interesting take?
More like, the Bucs were already in with 6 players, so they didn’t exactly have the space to fit Shilo Sanders in. But with Drew pushing for him, Licht and HC Todd Bowles didn’t think for a moment and agreed to get him. Shilo wasn’t their first choice, but Bowles knew Shilo could help them with strong tackling abilities and football intelligence.
For years, Deion Sanders helped both his kids, but now it’s their time to shine, and Shilo Sanders made the first move by hiring Drew Rosenhaus to carve his own identity. And no wonder that worked really well for him. So, let’s see how well he fits for the team.

Is Shilo Sanders a perfect fit for the Bucs?
Shilo Sanders’ modest college stats—67 tackles, one sack, and two pass breakups—didn’t deter him. And even when he was at Jackson State, he notched 39 tackles, seven pass deflections, two forced fumbles, and four interceptions. He focused on improvement, clocking a 4.52-second 40-yard dash at Colorado’s Pro Day and even hired an analytics firm to enhance his performance. This proactive approach paid off.
Even Buccaneers coach Todd Bowles praised Sanders’ potential, stating, “I think he’s a good football player. He’s a heck of a tackler and he knows the game very well — he can see the game very well. Giving him a chance to play, we think he has a shot to help us from a safety standpoint and from a special teams standpoint.

“So I’m excited to get him in here and see how he moves. I saw him tackle all year. I saw him make plays. He’s a very smart player and he understands the game very well. So we thought it was worth a shot to see what he can do and I think he’ll show himself well.” So, even if his status is undrafted on the team, he sure can make a difference.
Shilo’s NFL journey has been anything but straightforward, yet his relentless drive persists. Every step showcases he’s more than just a famous name; he’s a dedicated competitor forging his own path. Now, with the Buccaneers, Shilo’s earned the platform he’s strived for. The spotlight is on him, and Shilo intends to make the most of it.
