Well, Travis Hunter getting injured in between a crucial game is something no one could have imagined in their wildest dreams. The way he pulled off his last game against the UCF Knights was remarkable, but this week he had to leave the game against the Kansas State Wildcats in between because of his shoulder injury. Yes, it’s shocking and was a big disadvantage for the team. However, recent events have pointed out this to be the only reason for the Buffs’ loss but it looks like it was not the case. Let’s see what the fuss is all about.

Today, a fan took to X to share his opinion on the Travis Hunter injury being pointed out as the only reason for the Colorado Buffs loss, saying, “If K-State’s best corner, best safety, and another corner hadn’t gotten hurt, and they could have actually used Avery Johnson’s legs (couldn’t because of his injury), K-State wins by 10+. ” Well, the tweet, in itself, does not make much sense, but we understand that it is in response to a tweet by a famous sports personality.

This was a reply to an earlier tweet shared by famous media analyst Skip Bayless, who claimed that the Buffs lost just because of Travis’s injury, and if he had stayed, the picture would have been different, saying, “If Travis Hunter hadn’t gotten hurt, Colorado wins that game and keeps a miracle season alive.” You can’t blame him. Hunter has displayed an exceptional performance in the ongoing season; his presence in the game is very crucial, but it can’t be the only reason, of course. But the injury did affect Travis Hunter off the field.

Travis Hunter went into the game against the Kansas Wildcats with +300 odds to win the Heisman Trophy, placing him second behind RB Ashton Jeanty from Boise State, who had +240 odds. But after Saturday’s game, his odds dropped to +650 odds, which was quite upsetting to witness. Well, this is not the only thing that is concerning; the injury is also raising doubts about his dual-game play for the NFL.

Is the injury a wake-up call for Travis Hunter?

Well, Buffs two-way star Travis Hunter’s desire to play on both sides of the pigskin in the NFL is known by everyone. But after his recent injury during their game against the Wildcats, he has put a big question mark on it. Reports point out that the reason behind his injury could be game pressure. Well, playing on both defense and offense is not everyone’s cup of tea. Travis Hunter has recorded an average of 124 snaps per game. With 300 offensive snaps this season, and on the defensive front, having played 320 snaps.

Maintaining such records in the long run, especially in the NFL, can be hectic, but he is Travis Hunter for a reason. However, even former NFL star player Cam Newton believes Hunter should focus on one position for the NFL, saying, “Yes, I do think he can play both. Now, do I think the volume of plays—can he play 72 plays on defense and another 57 plays on offense in the NFL? No. I think a guy with Travis’ skillset focuses on defense.”
