Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss had one of the most impressive wins of Week 5 in college football. The Rebels beat the playoff aspirations out of Brian Kelly in a 24-19 victory. The win was so impressive that the AP poll raised the team all the way from 13th to the 4th best team in the country, behind Ohio State, Oregon, and Miami. In fact, that win may have caused recruiting pipelines to start trending toward Ole Miss.

On September 28th, Josh Newberg hopped onto the ‘Rivals Recruiting’ podcast and brought Texas Longhorns insider Sam Spiegelman to talk about Texas recruiting. Newberg looked really concerned about Lane Kiffin potentially flipping 4-star Dylan Berymon from Texas. Spiegelman raised a red-flag: “If you would have asked me this a week ago or two weeks ago, I probably would have shrugged you off, Josh, and said, ‘No, don’t worry about it.’” But today it’s a different story altogether.

Despite being committed to Texas back on June 4th, Dylan Berymon visited Ole Miss twice in the last three weekends. That’s not a good sign for Texas, especially since Ole Miss is currently doing much better, sitting at 4-0. Spiegelman understand that Berymon can possibly choose to leave Steve Sarkisian’s squad, and Berymon’s connections with the Rebels make it harder for Texas to hold onto him. Texas is also keeping tabs on other defensive line prospects from the Class of 2026.

Spiegelman added with caution: “Dylan has a fantastic relationship with Randall Joiner, the Ole Miss defensive line coach, and their DC Pete Golding, who is from Louisiana and has poached a ton of talent from the boot over the last half-decade on Lane Kiffin’s staff. I was told again not to pay attention. He is not a flip target leading into this weekend, but since those whispers have quieted down, he is someone we’re paying attention to as the season goes on.”

The 6-foot-2, 315-pound lineman has been busy taking multiple unofficial visits this fall to Ole Miss. Berymon is a Louisiana native. Even other blue-chip programs like USC and Texas A&M were keeping tabs on him before he chose Texas. 247Sports ranks him as the No. 96 overall prospect in the country, the No. 13 defensive lineman, and the No. 4 recruit in Louisiana. On3 Industry Rankings place him as the No. 23 defensive lineman and No. 232 overall prospect. He’s a multi-level threat, also competing in discus and shot-put at a national level.

On the field, he’s an absolute menace. Berymon’s impact was significant during his sophomore and junior seasons. In 2024, his junior year, he recorded 30 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, and three sacks in 10 games. During his sophomore season in 2023, he finished with 38 tackles and seven sacks. No wonder Ole Miss is insisting on bringing him to their roster.

Ole Miss Rebels flipped Michigan Commit

After the Rebels win against LSU, four-star cornerback Dorian Barney decided to flip his commitment from Michigan to Ole Miss. Barney’s commitment to Michigan never looked stable for a minute. Folks expected his flip. Some of them had him on the flip list. Now thanks to LSU, Barney decided the Rebels were the place for him.

The 6’1, 170 pounds CB Barney is originally from Carrollton, Georgia. He’s ranked No. 228 in the 2026 class per the Composite and is considered a Top-25 corner nationally. He’s still star-struck about the LSU-Ole Miss game energy.

“The environment was crazy,” Barney told Rivals. “My first time going to an Ole Miss game didn’t disappoint me. The direction Kiffin is leading the team in is great, he’s one of the best coaches in college football. If they keep playing this way, I see a Natty in them.” Barney now joins Ole Miss’ 2026 recruiting class as another high-profile addition, continuing Kiffin’s streak of landing blue-chip prospects.
