Oregon’s recruiting room under Dan Lanning has been buzzing all week after flipping Utah WR Hudson Lewis. The Ducks now sit at No. 5 in the 2026 recruiting class, looking forward to another potential Utah commit jumping ship. But this won’t be a cakewalk for the Ducks.

On the Nov. 21 episode of Rivals’ The Inside Scoop, Oregon insider Max Torres provided the recruiting scoop on LaMarCus Bell while discussing the Lewis flip.

“I’m assuming that the other flip you’re alluding to is LaMarcus ‘Bam’ Bell out of Lake Oswego, Oregon.” Max Torres said. “A top in-state product has been getting looked at by the Ducks and recently got offered.”

However, as per Torres, the flip won’t be easy this time.

“And then with LaMarcus, this is a guy who kind of grew up with the Oregon Dream School storyline that you hear with a lot of in-state guys,” Max Torres said. “But maybe he has something that he really loves in Utah. I’ve reached out for comment, but it doesn’t necessarily sound like he has been wanting to go on the record lately. So, you’ve got to respect that.”

Bell, a 3-star player from Oregon, committed to Utah’s class of 2026 in June of this year. The 5-foot-11 prospect is a part of the MaxPreps Junior All-American second team. He’s a multisport athlete with a wrestling and track and field background that has helped him play both offense and defense. As a junior, he carried the ball 173 times for 1,528 yards and 25 touchdowns as a running back, while also adding 8 catches for 62 yards and a touchdown, along with 17 tackles and an interception on defense.

And there’s more to why programs are vying for his commitment, especially the Ducks. Bell is a top prospect within Oregon state, ranked No. 2 and nationally ranked 529. Despite his defensive skills, he’s recruited as an RB. One reason Oregon is pushing for Bell is that the Ducks’ 2026 commit, Tradarian Ball, seems to fit best as a wide receiver, catching more passes than rushing at Texas High School.

While he’s not shown signs of decommitment, Dan Lanning can still pull a trick, as per Max Torres. “If the Ducks can get him on campus this weekend that that would definitely bode well for them being able to pull this one off,” he said.

Oregon will host USC this Saturday, November 22, at Autzen Stadium. Naturally, for such a big game that can solidify Oregon’s playoff chances, Lanning would host a number of potential commits. However, there’s no information on whether Bell is planning to visit the game. Interestingly, Oregon used this formula to flip Hudson Lewis.

Dan Lanning’s Oregon flips Utah WR Hudson Lewis

Hudson Lewis, a 3-star WR from Timberline High School, Boise, with 1000+ receiving yards and 20 touchdowns as a freshman, led their team to a conference win and earned Offensive MVP in 2021. His incredible numbers earned him 12 offers from top schools, but he ultimately committed to Utah in September 2025 and officially visited the campus on October 11.

Dan Lanning invited him to Eugene for the Wisconsin game on October 25, where the Ducks emerged victorious with a 14-point win. Upon visiting, the 5-foot-10 developed a good rapport with Oregon’s WR coach Ross Douglas and HC Dan Lanning. Two weeks later, on November 14, Oregon offered a scholarship to Hudson. In the next 48 hours, on November 16, Lewis announced his decommitment from Utah, jumping ship to Oregon, with Douglas being the main catalyst behind the scenes.

His addition could be a boost to the 2026 class, as the room is loaded with top WRs, including 5-star Jalen Lott and 4-star Messiah Hampton. Additionally, the program anticipates that 2024 5-star WR Gatlin Bair will join the roster after completing his LDS mission.
