Dia Bell’s high school career ended on Friday, as the Texas commit didn’t take the field in the Patriots’ 24-17 overtime loss to Edna Karr. The five-star QB had been electric this season, throwing for 540 yards and racking up four TDs with zero interceptions. Ranked No. 4 overall in the Class of 2026, Bell has been unstoppable, amassing 2,597 yards and 29 TDs as a junior. He also dominated the Elite 11 Finals, earning MVP honors against the country’s best young QBs. But now, the focus shifts to what’s next for this rising star.

Bell announced via IG on Sunday that he’ll miss the remainder of his senior year due to an ” unexpected, minor procedure.” He didn’t reveal any specifics. Whatever the case may be, it abruptly ends what was shaping up to be a standout senior campaign at American Heritage High. But Bell had already wowed fans this season with his play. He once lead a dramatic 28-point comeback on national television. Even sidelined, his star power and elite talent continue to shine bright for Texas’ 2026 recruiting class.

Dia Bell committed to Texas over a year ago. The son of former NBA star Raja Bell, he has also earned Florida Gatorade Player of the Year honors. Reflecting on five incredible years at American Heritage, he thanked his coaches and teammates, saying, “Every moment spent on a field with my brothers was a dream come true… I am forever grateful for you all and for this incredible ride.” Though heartbroken to miss the rest of the 2025 season, Bell is looking ahead with excitement. “As disappointing as the ending of this chapter is for me, I am even more excited about being 100% healthy and starting the next chapter in Austin,” he wrote, as he prepares to join the Texas Longhorns in January.
Right now, the five-star QB has already shown himself as a leader, and this setback is just a pit stop on what promises to be an incredible football journey. Meanwhile, current Texas QB Arch Manning is feeling the heat after receiving boos from Longhorns fans.

Texas QB’s latest revelation
Arch Manning struggled again in Texas’ 27-10 win over UTEP, and the fans didn’t hold back. At DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium, boos rained down after a rough stretch that included 10 straight incompletions and a costly interception in the end zone. Now, even with the Longhorns pulling off the win, Manning acknowledged the issues, saying, “I’ve got to play better… I know I’m better than this.” However, the Texas QB didn’t stop there.

The preseason Heisman favorite is still searching for consistency under the bright lights. Through three games, Manning has completed just 55.3% of his passes, often appearing hurried or off rhythm in Steve Sarkisian’s offense. Now, frustrated with his play, he admitted, “All my life I’ve been an accurate passer. I’ve just got to get back to it.” So, expectations remain sky-high for the Texas QB from one of football’s most legendary families. HC Sarkisian and teammates are standing by him, urging patience and focus.
“Our job as coaches is to work him towards that,” stated Sarkisian. OL Trevor Goosby added, “He’s still a great quarterback. I tell him that every day.” So, even with the boos ringing in his ears, Manning remains the leader of the Longhorns, determined to turn his fortunes around.
