Quinn Ewers’s injury update has put Texas fans in a tough spot. With Longhorns averaging over 300 passing yards per game this season, his comeback would definitely provide a much-needed boost. However, there are concerns about how quickly he will adapt and find his rhythm against the Aggies’ defense. In this crucial must-win situation, Texas cannot afford any mistakes, and the pressure on Ewers to perform is increasing. It’s a risky gamble with high stakes that could either make or break their playoff dreams.
The Texas Longhorns won their last game against Kentucky, but at what cost? Losing Quinn Ewers was surely not on their list. During the game, Kentucky Wildcats DT Deone Walker tackled Ewers in the second quarter, injuring his ankle. After which, Ewers left the field and headed to the locker room with his ankle taped. This instantly sparked rumors of his season-ending performance, but it looks like that is not the case. On November 24, NFL reporter Anwar Richardson took to X, sharing a tweet that said, “Good news! I’m told Texas QB Quinn Ewers only has a mild ankle sprain and will be good to go for Texas A&M on Saturday.” But only if its fans considered it as good news.

Well, before we delve into that, let’s discuss Quinn Ewers’ remarkable performance against the Kentucky Wildcats. Despite being injured, his gameplay was pretty composed as he threw for 191 yards, completing 20 out of 30 passes with two touchdowns. However, it’s disappointing that fans only seem to find flaws in him rather than appreciating his talent. The debate surrounding Ewers’ gameplay has been ongoing since the start of the season, but the conclusion remains the same—he should step aside and make way for Arch Manning to take up his position.
Quinn Ewers vs Arch Manning: the ultimate battle
The guy who missed significant time due to two injuries returned to the field faced immense pressure and struggled with inconsistency. But in the end, he put up a decent game. And it’s not like Arch Manning is not a worthy contender for a starting quarterback, but it’s not like he didn’t have to struggle in the game. But all fans could think of was Ewers being a bad player; as one said, “This isn’t good news. 🤦🏻♂️ probably the most overrated QB in the nation. Usher in the Arch era. It will be nice to have a QB that will throw it further than 10 yards down the field more than 2-3 times a game. Also, Quinn couldn’t run out of site in 2 weeks, absolutely dreadful to watch.” Ouch! Even injury couldn’t buy a little empathy for Quinn.
It’s not like Quinn Ewers didn’t get a chance to prove his gameplay, and even in the worst conditions, he never gave up. One such example of that is the Longhorns game against the Bulldogs; he was sacked, had turnovers, couldn’t score, and ultimately benched. But even with Manning in the field, the team couldn’t do much against them. So, in the end, to even bring their score to 15 against the Dawgs, Sarkisian has to put back Ewers into the game. So, unlike this fan thinking, “They are prepping the wrong QB then,” the team is betting on a strong player.

Well, Arch Manning was holding up a strong game for the Longhorns until Quinn Ewers was out, but it was not like the team was playing against any ranked opponents that time, and against Georgia, the whole offense failed, not just Ewers. But then too, fans can’t stop themselves from saying, “Not sure who gives us a better chance to win.” Take shots when someone is down. That’s not something a player plays for.
But only if fans could make a difference between playing under pressure and not at all playing. Now that the team is heading towards a very crucial game against Aggies next week, news of Quinn Ewers’ return is raising concerns for the fans, as they think only his presence will lead the team to their ultimate victory. Fans also feel the same emotions, as one said, “Great news for Aggies… 👍” and another added, “Is that good news??? I hope so!!!!” For now, let’s hope Ewers avoids further injury, or else he’ll only have to endure more criticism.
