As the elite players of the Colorado Buffaloes prepare to leave, rising star Lajohntay Wester is ready to step into the spotlight for 2025. On Instagram, he shared, “2024 was one filled with ups and downs. I never was given anything till this day 💯. Overcame all the adversity, never complained, just worked. You can’t hide this 💩. 2025 is my year; I’m going to get everything they tried to take from me‼️🚶🏾‍♂️…” His determination and confidence shine through in his words, signaling that he’s ready to make a significant impact.

Wester’s talent isn’t just talking; he’s among Colorado football’s highest NIL player valuations, with an impressive On3 NIL valuation of $316K. Before joining Colorado, he had an outstanding season at Florida Atlantic, where he recorded over 1,000 receiving yards. Did you watch Wester playing against Baylor? He was outstanding. His 43-yard Hail Mary pass from Shedeur helped the Buffs secure an important 38-31 victory this season.

Although the Buffs played a phenomenal season opener against North Dakota State, 26-31, they could not end the season on a high note. Deion Sanders and Co. had a disappointing end to their 2024 season, losing to No. 17 BYU in the Alamo Bowl. Their defense was not at its best, which also shut down their explosive offense. But Wester’s potential gives fans hope for a brighter future.

LaJohntay Wester’s high school and college journey

Lajohntay Wester is ready to make his mark but before that, let’s dive into his achievements before he joined Buffs. The Palmetto, Florida, native attended  Palmetto High School. During his senior year, he showcased his skills by hauling in 35 receptions for 758 yards and scoring eight touchdowns. His impressive high school performance earned him a scholarship to play college football at Florida Atlantic University (FAU).

As the wide receiver transitioned to college football, he quickly made a name for himself. Over his four seasons at FAU, he played in 45 games, recording an impressive 252 receptions for 2,703 receiving yards and 21 touchdowns. He also contributed with two rushing touchdowns and one punt return touchdown. His talent didn’t go unnoticed; he was named First Team All-AAC and even earned honors as the American Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Year. Moving into 2025, Buffs fans can expect great things from this rising star!
