Out of all the things from his Heisman speech, the Lil Wayne part still stands out as the funniest. See, Travis Hunter has done it. Not only has this guy set new records in the world of college football, but he has also managed to break the QB dominance in style. If you check the voting results, compared to Cam Ward or Dillion Gabriel, Travis Hunter got twice the points. And his speech? It was a spectacle. “I didn’t know none of your songs until she let me know because I don’t listen to music,” Hunter had said while giving Wayne and his music a nice shout-out. Man, this made us feel old. Do you know for how long we have been tuning in to Lil Wayne?

And the funny part is, it ain’t only us who had this “oh, we are old” realization. Back on her Instagram story, Kristen Saban pointed out how she felt “ungodly old” hearing Travis Hunter talk about Wayne. “Last night when Travis Hunter won the Heisman, he said he didn’t know any Lil Wayne songs until he started listening to Lil Wayne… Makes me feel so ungodly old… I’ve had all the lyrics memorized to ‘A Milli’ since I was, probably, 14, 15 years old,” Kristen mentioned. An entire generation grew up on ‘Milli’. The entire Carter III album is a classic which no one should miss. You aren’t “old” Kristen. Travis is just too young.

It makes sense why Hunter didn’t know Wayne’s songs. If you are 21 years old and all your life revolves around being the best in 2 different positions, then it’s natural you won’t have much time to listen to music.

However, now that Hunter is finally hooked on Wayne’s songs because of his fiancee, Leanna Lenee, that is all that plays on Hunter’s phone. From pregame music to practice music, it is Lil Wayne all the way.

You know, this entire speech was a big rollercoaster ride for everyone present. From Deion Sanders to all the boys on the Buffs, Hunter thanked everyone. However, one part of his speech still stands out from the rest.

An emotional nod to Travis Hunter Sr.

We knew Hunter was going to cry but never thought he was going to bawl his eyes out this hard. “I want to say something to my father,” Hunter had said. Fans already knew this was going to get emotional.

Hunter thanked his father, Travis Hunter Sr., for all that he has done for the family. Without Hunter Sr.’s sacrifice, we probably would’ve never seen Hunter in Colorado Buffs pulling in such massive stats.

Even when talking about the reason behind the nod to his father, Hunter made it clear that he wanted the world to know where he came from. It will always be his family that will be at the center of his world, and nothing will ever change that.
