When Travis Hunter won the Heisman Trophy back after his 2024 season with the Buffs, despite his dad not being present in the audience, he didn’t leave out the sacrifices the man had made for him and his brother. “I’m doing this for you, bro [Trayvis]… for all my siblings, man, and my family. My pops, he sacrificed a lot for us,” said Hunter. He then went on to bag the Heisman and was selected as the 2nd overall draft pick. And now, Travis Hunter Sr. is on to the next challenge: giving his younger son Trayvis Hunter the much-needed support for his collegiate career and possibly propelling him to become like his elder brother.

Trayvis’ recruitment journey as a 2027 WR has always been seen through his elder brother’s lens. But those comparisons are truly unfair since Trayvis is still a high school athlete. And by that standard, Trayvis even joked about being better than his elder brother as he declared, “I’m faster” when asked to compare his and Travis’ abilities. Despite that talent and comparisons with Travis, Trayvis doesn’t yet have an offer from a ‘power’ team as he continues to put in incredible performances. But that can change, according to his dad, since a new power offer is in the pipeline.
Travis Hunter Sr. reposted an IG post on his story that explored the possibility of the 5’7″ and 135 lbs athlete from Springfield, Georgia, for a potential commitment to none other than Mario Cristobal‘s Miami Hurricanes. “Trayvis to Miami?” was written boldly on the video, with the background dominated by Trayvis walking up to the field as he prepares himself for a game. It’s a possibility considering the talent Cristobal is stacking with high-profile commits like Jackson Cantwell and Vance Spafford. Realistically, though, Miami has shown no reported interest yet in Trayvis, but can that change after his father’s declaration?

Being a 2027 recruit, so far, Trayvis has earned offers from Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Tennessee State, Sacramento State, and Jackson State. While none of the offers is as illustrious as his elder brother had bagged. But considering the influence that Travis Hunter Sr carries in Trayvis and Travis Hunter’s lives, the Miami possibility is hard to underestimate.

Hunter has repeatedly told how his dad used to take him and Trayvis and coach them in youth leagues and how Hunter Sr. instilled a “competitive spirit” in the two brothers. That influence still carries through both brothers’ careers now.

For instance, when Travis Hunter went to his NFL draft, he wanted his dad by his side, supporting him in Green Bay. For that, the family had to file a special petition in court for Hunter Sr., as Hunter Sr. was on probation (due to gun and drug use charges from 2023). Not just that, recently, when Trayvis earned an Adidas NIL deal, family was all he could think of. “If you want me, you gotta get my brother too. It’s a family business,” said Trayvis. As of now, though, courtesy of Trayvis’ incredible performances, the guy CFB prospects are being backed by a football legend.
A former Heisman winner and NFL legend backs Trayvis’ talent with 13 potential power offers
Trayvis’ frame might not be well built for college football for now, but despite that, he shows exceptional body control, quick playmaking ability, and contested catch ability. Young Hunter’s speed was also a highlight recently when he ran a 40-yard dash in 4.6 seconds, showcasing talent in YAC and shifty moves. The skills were then probably the major reason Trayvis received 496 yards for 6 touchdowns in his sophomore year, and showcased a stellar 3 touchdown performance in his 2025 opening game. And that has made a former Heisman winner legend excited for the player.
Cam Newton, through his IG account, boosted the offer prospects of Trayvis Hunter, posting Trayvis’ pictures with logos of 13 ‘power’ programs. “What college do you think Class of 2027 Travis Hunter Will End Up ⁉️👀.” Cam Newton captioned the post. As for the teams Newton had mentioned, it had Miami, Alabama, and Clemson at the top, along with Michigan, Texas, Florida, LSU, Georgia, FSU, Ohio State, Auburn, and the Colorado Buffaloes. This clearly signals potential offers brewing for Trayvis in the background.
