The college football SEC fans never expected to see ESPN bringing back an old theme song from the 2000s for college football in 2024. The decision to stay with the old tune, which many of the fans had probably forgotten, has not been something the loyal followers of SEC football have taken graciously. With this change happening from CBS’ timeless song to this relic of a track, the corporation has risked being criticized on social media.

Everyone complains about it on X, let alone other social media platforms. One fan was short and to the point by saying “Awful.” The sentiment did not stop there; one said, “This is all just so weird. I already miss CBS.” Many fans were disappointed with the new theme song because it could not be compared with the nostalgic CBS’s theme song.

Fans missing CBS

SEC fans in general have realized that the new choice ESPN has taken is a declined one. Many fans responded and commented on the change saying that; SEC on CBS was the best theme song in all of sports. One of the users wrote the words “What is this rubbish?”

Indeed there are a lot of fans that feel ESPN betrays them and it is not about the games, but more specifically about the broadcasts of SEC games. Even the latest CFB theme song could not make fans happy because it faded their expectations, and people want to hear familiar tunes they have known for years.

Even the decision to bring back an old theme song appears to have fallen flat for many SEC fans longing for the days when the CBS theme song was such a perfect fit for their Saturday football. It will be even more fascinating to wait for more until spring if ESPN will change something, hearing the voices of the audiences and fans.
