Let’s get this clear from the very first. Stockton never attended Westview High School. In fact, he’s a proud product of Rabun County High School in Tiger, Georgia, where his football journey truly began. He was coached by his father, Rob Stockton, and they created an electrifying legacy in local and national audiences alike.

While at Rabun County, he has passed for 13,652 yards, delivered 177 TDs, and achieved a completion of 878 out of 1273 attempts, along with 17 interceptions. And these contributed to making several Georgia state high school records at the time of his graduation in 2022. But it’s not the stats that caught the attention of scouts; it was his natural leadership skills, poise, and grit that turned heads in the college recruiting world.

As per the scouting report, he is a thick-built player with average height for his position. And he can make plays in the pocket when the rush breaks down by using his presence and feel for where the rush is coming from and how he needs to buy time. So while there’s no chapter in the Stockton story about Westview High, the Rabun County Wildcats can proudly claim their efforts in raising one of the most electrifying quarterbacks in Georgia.

The Georgia QB’s early life in Connecticut

Plot twist—Stockton doesn’t have roots in Connecticut. The red-and-black-wearing Georgia quarterback was born and raised in Northeast Georgia, to be specific, in Tiger, Georgia. This youngster’s story isn’t shaped in the snowy mountains in England like Ryan Puglisi, another QB in Georgia. But surely, Stockton’s journey is shaped by Friday night lights in the Southern Appalachian foothills.

From a very tender age, he was immersed in a football-centric world. Stockton’s family bleeds red and black, with sister Georgia being a UGA alumna. Paternal grandfather, Lawrence, graduated from UGA’s pharmacy school. Lawrence’s wife also attended and graduated from Georgia, so it’s pretty safe to say that the Stocktons are Bulldogs at heart. Gunner’s father is all his praises. “The number one thing for Gunner is he’s known our community, and especially our family, his friends, and those people closest to him, believe in him. We’ve always loved him and want the best for him. This is something that he’s worked for [and] something he’s dreamed of. You look at pictures of your kid, and they’re throwing the ball in your backyard and dreaming of being the starting quarterback at the University of Georgia. It has happened. It is unreal,” said Rob.

His father and mother, Anna, have both been integral in shaping his competitive spirit and technical finesse on the field. His upbringing in this tight-knit Georgia town not only grounded him but also ignited the flame of a future star. So, if you are searching for a Stockton’s chapter in Connecticut, you are chasing a ghost. His legend begins and thrives in Tiger, Georgia.
