Jimmy grew up in Sanford City in Seminole County, Florida, with his father, Jimmy Horn Sr., who loves football. He played at Seminole High School and Bethune-Cookman University. Unfortunately, he could not achieve his dream of playing in the NFL. Jimmy is his father’s sunshine, living his father’s dream life and trying to excel at his position with the Buffaloes.

Sanford might be a city of dreams, with mountains in the west and the ocean to its east for many citizens. However, Horn Jr. thinks “the area is cursed.” He completed his high school at Seminole. His journey at Seminole wasn’t easy. His parents, Jimmy Sr. and his mother, Kendra Lewis, decided to separate. Since then, Horn Sr. has raised the player as a single parent. Horn Sr. could not achieve much of what he dreamed of in life, but like every other father, he worked hard to complete his son Horn Jr.’s dream of becoming a professional football player.

“Once he gets his toe in at college, my job is done. That’s been the goal since elementary school,” Horn Sr. said, who worked as a truck diver and barber. He believes that if Horn Jr. steps into college, everything will change for them, and his son will live a noble life.

Jimmy Horn Jr.’s education journey

Horn Jr. graduated from Seminole High School with impressive grades. His fearless attitude caught the attention of head coach Deion Sanders, which helped him join the Buffaloes in 2022. He helped his team to be the first undefeated state championship football team in the history of the Orlando area by leading them to Class 8A of the state championship. The three-star prospect gained 1,182 yards and scored 12 touchdowns in his senior year. Horn Jr. also plays basketball and runs track. In 2021, he won four medals at the Florida Class 8A state track and field championship. He was also part of the state champion 4×100-meter relay that reached the top 10 nationally during high school.

With South Florida, he played 23 games, caught 67 passes for 959 yards and four touchdowns, and ran the ball 14 times for 107 yards, rushing a touchdown. In 2022, South Florida’s coach chose him as a kick returner for the first ALL-AAC team.
