If you are a Purdue football fan, you have likely heard the name Devin Mockobee popping around. He’s so perfect to his game that once his teammate said, “If there’s a crease in the line, he’ll find it.” That’s the kind of talent head coach Ryan Walters didn’t lose a second to put on scholarship as soon as he took over. But only a few would know this dynamic running back isn’t just a player; he’s an engineer, a reader, and a young guy who is passionate about cars! But who are the people behind this talent? Let’s dive into the Mockobee family story and what makes Devin tick.
Devin hails from Boonville, Indiana, along with his parents, Conrad and Rachel Mackobee. These are the people who laid the foundation for his athletic career. You’d be surprised to know that Conrad is a former lineman for the Boonville Pioneers, and Rachel is a Heritage Hills alum. Growing up, Devin was surrounded by sports since the day he could not even spell it. “My dad always joked he was born here and would probably be buried here,” Devin said while laughing.
