From supporter as a child to captain of the team. Jack Sawyer, who grew up supporting the OSU, is now captain of one of the Scarlet & Gray’s hottest defensive fronts in recent memory. “It’s one of the best honors I’ve ever received, I think in life. I’ve always dreamed of achieving [captain] since coming here, since committing here really back when I was a sophomore in high school, so it was surreal,” said Sawyer.

After his junior year, many people thought Sawyer might leave for the draft, but he returned for his fourth season with the Buckeyes. And keeping his character in mind, he set a record in this year’s Cotton Bowl for OSU. But what kind of person is he? Jack Sawyer tries to set an example for others from birth. And at last, he succeeded! At this point, Jack wants to express his gratitude to his parents for their unwavering support throughout his career.

Meet with the parents of OSU DE

They mean a lot to me. They’re the main reason why I’m here today,” said Sawyer when he was named captain of THE OSU, referring to his parents. Lyle and Michelle Sawyer are the parents of Jack. He is fortunate because both of his parents have athletic backgrounds.

His mother, Michelle, was an exceptional basketball player at Pickerington High School, while his father, Lyle, played football for Findlay College. The Sawyer family hails from Pickerington, Ohio, where Jack began his athletic career before moving on to play college football.

It is significant for a local freshman to gain the opportunity to play for OSU. Selecting freshmen from the area, particularly those in Columbus, puts OSU at serious risk since so many of them grow up wanting to be Buckeyes. “We don’t usually do this, but in this case we are. You have an offer from The Ohio State University,” an OSU official stated to Jack. You can now imagine how amazing Jack’s performance was.

When Jack attained that chance, Sawyer’s father, Lyle, unconsciously exclaimed, “WOW!” while Jack was stunned. The DE then became the captain after having fantastic snaps this season. Although it’s a great honor, Sawyer is aware that the silver bullets are only getting started in what many predict will be a fantastic season. “It was such a great experience and I can’t wait to hopefully lead these guys to a national championship,” Sawyer stated. That moment has arrived.

But Jack’s mother was equally shocked when he received the offer from OSU. She said, “We were thrilled, I couldn’t talk, I was afraid my voice was going to crack.” Since then, Jack’s parents have made an effort to attend all of their son’s games. It’s unbelievable that they traveled from Ohio to Eugene to watch OSU’s recent game against Oregon. They had a significant impact on Jack’s football career. But when Jack made the longest scoop-and-score in CFP history, she couldn’t control her emotion.

Proud moment for Jack Sawyer’s mother

In Cotton Bowl, with a little over two minutes left in the fourth quarter, Sawyer took away Texas’ top QB, Quinn Ewers. Sawyer came up with one of the game’s most spectacular plays when the Longhorns were down to their fourth down. He retrieved the ball himself and ran 83 yards for the touchdown. After that, Texas had no chance of recovery.

And after the game, the cameras captured a beautiful moment on the field between Sawyer’s mother and OSU HC Ryan Day. In addition to assuring Michelle that her son had just achieved legendary status following that amazing play, which will live on in the hearts and memories of Buckeyes supporters for years to come, the Buckeyes shot-caller was spotted hugging Sawyer’s mother.

The Cotton Bowl strip-sack scoop-and-score, which will go down as one of the best plays in program history, was more significant than any of Sawyer’s stats. And following this, his mother stated, “It’s like a fairy tale. You just can’t make this stuff up. It’s amazing. It’s the best group of kids I’ve ever been around. The parents are amazing. I’m so thrilled for these boys. We love Coach Day. We love that whole staff. I’m just so happy for them.

As of now, OSU is on their road to the national title, where they will play No. Notre Dame on January 20 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium thanks in part to Sawyer’s heroics. Now, let’s see how the standout DE performs in this game.
