Georgia Tech has dominated the season so far, winning with ease against Gardner-Webb and Colorado to take a 2-0 record. They are among the best teams in the nation at moving the ball because of their effective offense, which averages over 570 yards per game. Their offense has been their mainstay for now, despite their defense, which ranks about 64th. They will now take on Clemson in their most difficult test to date.

On the other hand, Clemson‘s start has not been as expected. After winning the ACC last year, they were ranked No. 4 in the preseason and have appeared shaky, particularly offensively. They lost to Troy early and had to fight back after struggling to find rhythm against LSU. Although their defense hasn’t been bad, it hasn’t been sufficient to keep the team intact. As fans prepare for this high-stakes matchup, the experienced voices calling the game add another level of excitement.

It’s easy to recognize Bob Wischusen‘s calm, seasoned, and consistently accurate voice. Since 2005, he has been doing commentary for ESPN and ABC on college basketball and football games, and that is only the beginning. Also, he has covered major golf events like the US and British Opens, the PGA Championship, and in 2021, he even added NHL games to his resume. Besides broadcasting, Bob has been the New York Jets’ radio voice since 2002 and earlier in his career, he used to cover Rangers and Knicks games for MSG Networks.

He is now present at every event, including the NFL Draft, Sunday NFL Countdown, and Monday Night Football. Also, he is the voice of choice during important occasions like Super Bowl week and the Scouting Combine.

Kris Budden is the young, energetic face you’ll see on the sidelines during the game. She has been with ESPN for years, covering everything from tennis to football, and she recently covered the US Open in the grand slams. She has covered college football and the NFL for FOX Sports before joining ESPN. She even hosted Padres coverage in San Diego. Her career began at WBIR in Knoxville, where she covered major events like the Olympics and NCAA tournaments. There, she won regional Emmys and the AP Best Sports Feature. As the game draws near, the focus will now turn to how Clemson’s pressure and Georgia Tech’s drive will clash on the field.

Georgia Tech looks to shake up ACC with huge clash against Clemson

Even though Clemson is the clear favorite, the Jackets are aware that Georgia Tech is a powerful rival. They have a top-10 offense and a 2-0 record, which gives them confidence and momentum. Although they have occasionally been careless, giving up the ball early in both games, they have managed to win when things get tangled. Brent Key stated, “We can’t beat ourselves. Our margins aren’t big… We try to create more margin in the way we play and the style we play with.”

His road test might be more difficult for Clemson than it appears. Historically, coach Dabo Swinney’s teams have performed poorly in away ACC openers; in fact, four of his five conference opener losses have occurred away from home. A couple of poor plays could quickly change the momentum, and quarterback Cade Klubnik is under pressure to perform as well. “Having gone against Clemson for a lot of years, there’s one thing you can say that he does a great job of. It’s when they have had a down week or down game, he gets them up and they’re ready to roll that next week,” Key pointed out. Georgia Tech can still make the Tigers sweat, though.

This game is more important than it looks. It has the potential to shape the ACC’s future and set the tone for the rest of the season. “It’s not a rivalry if it’s one-sided completely,” Key admitted, referring to the unfair nature of past matchups. “That’s on us to be able to go out and compete and make these games what they should be.” A victory over Clemson, a top-15 team, is gonna be huge for the Yellow Jackets, who are eager to prove themselves. With the stakes this high, Tech has an opportunity to reverse the situation.
