The No. 6 Oregon Ducks are looking to keep their undefeated start to the 2025 season rolling on Saturday when they host the Oregon State Beavers in a rivalry clash. For Beavers, it’s been about as rough an opening stretch as you could script—losses to California, Fresno State, and Texas Tech, all by double digits save one. The Beavers are 0-3 and searching for answers. Oregon, on the other hand, has been sprinting through September, winning 3-0 by blowout margins and now favored by a hefty 35.5 points at home.

Fans tuning in won’t just get the Ducks’ latest showcase. They’ll also hear a fresh broadcast pairing. On the call for BTN will be Jeff Levering and Jake Butt, two names who’ve taken very different routes to the booth. Levering, a Chapman University graduate, has been the voice of the Milwaukee Brewers and a fixture in baseball circles. But he’s no stranger to competition himself—back in 2003, he was part of Chapman’s Division III national championship squad, stepping into the batter’s box as the team’s designated hitter. His path from the diamond to the broadcast booth has made him one of the more versatile play-by-play men in sports today.
Next to him, Jake Butt will provide analysis. A former NFL tight end with the Denver Broncos, Butt made his name first at Michigan, where he was a reliable target in Jim Harbaugh’s offense. Injuries may have cut his playing career short, but they opened the door to a second act in broadcasting. Since 2022, Butt has been carving out a reputation with the Big Ten Network as an analyst who mixes player insight with easy relatability. Saturday’s rivalry game gives him another chance to flex that skill set.

Of course, the storylines on the field are as big as the broadcast crew. Oregon is rolling under Dan Lanning, fresh off a 20-point win against Northwestern in Week 3. That came after hammering Oklahoma State by a wide margin. Through it all, quarterback Dante Moore has been the centerpiece. The Heisman hopeful has racked up 657 passing yards and seven touchdowns against just one interception in three games. And now, he’s staring down at the Beavers’ defense that has been, let’s say, generous—allowing 277 passing yards and more than two scores through the air per game.
For Oregon State, the numbers are hard to ignore. The Beavers have allowed at least 34 points in every contest this fall, and they haven’t yet shown the ability to clamp down against either the run or the pass. The oddsmakers agree, setting the over/under at 57.5 with Oregon carrying the heavy favorite’s tag.

Oregon State vs Oregon: Prediction and pick
Oregon hasn’t exactly been easing into 2025—they’ve already stacked wins by 46, 66, and 20 points. That’s what you call a September statement. Now the Ducks get an Oregon State squad sitting at 0-3, with both of its Power 4 matchups ending in outputs of 15 points or fewer. The Beavers are allowing over 420 yards per game, which is basically like handing Dante Moore a fast pass to the end zone.

The Ducks have been steady on defense too, forcing 1.3 turnovers per contest while scoring at least 34 every time out. Northwestern slowed things just a little last week, but Oregon State doesn’t have the horses to keep this thing close.
Bottomline? On September 20, at Autzen, expect Oregon to hit the gas early—and never look back.
What’s your perspective on:
Can the Beavers pull off a miracle, or are the Ducks just too powerful this season?
Have an interesting take?
