In today’s Cotton Bowl game, Jerry Magallanes will blow that whistle. He will be in charge of the ACC officiating staff for the Cotton Bowl. To familiarize you with the controller for tonight’s game, let’s do a brief introduction. Magallanes began officiating peewee games at the age of 24 and has been an official for more than 25 years. He advanced swiftly through HS and CFB, officiating his first game in 1997. He officiated important games, such as the Peach Bowl and the ACC Title Game.

Magallanes became well-known for his refereeing during a contentious Miami vs. Duke game in 2021. As a result of his and his team’s errors throughout the game, they were suspended. However, he continues to follow his passion despite one error, and we will see this amazing referee in the stadium today. But will he start his career as a referee from the beginning?

Magallanes was a gifted athlete who played kick returner and RB at Philadelphia’s Father Judge High School before turning to refereeing. He was named to the 1980s Catholic League All-Decade Team by the Daily News. He spent two years playing collegiate football at Hofstra University before suffering an ankle injury that ended his playing days.

But today, Johnnie Forte, Darryl Johnson, Alex Amaya, Hugh Brown, Brian McGready, Frederick Dimpfel, Anthony Calabrese, and Marcus Woods (Alternate) will be in charge of the game under his direction. Frank Overcash will serve as a communicator, and Bill Scott will serve as a replay expert.

However, do you know if the weather has forced the cancellation of tonight’s Cotton Bowl?

Will the weather cooperate with the Cotton Bowl game?

Friday night’s Cotton Bowl will take place inside the cozy confines of AT&T Stadium, but in the days before the game, the weather outside the stadium has been in the news. The Cotton Bowl has issued its second statement regarding the plan for the conditions, but it is apparent that the game will start as planned despite the winter weather conditions that are predicted to impact North Texas and the Arlington area on Thursday and Friday.

According to the weather forecast, “We continue to monitor weather reports, and over the last 24 hours, the forecast for later this week has improved according to the National Weather Service. We have been meeting routinely with city officials, the Director of Transportation for North Texas and the College Football Playoff. Should the forecast shift, we are prepared for all contingencies. North Texas highways are already being brined and plans are in place to assure a safe environment for everyone in and around AT&T Stadium on game day. The teams arrive tomorrow, as planned, and the 2025 CFP Semifinal at the 89th Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic will kick off on Friday evening as scheduled.

The weather won’t affect the game, but spectators may have trouble getting there if the roads are wet or ice. Let’s see what the spectators experience today with a referee team and a thrilling environment.
