He’s going to be a head coach one day,” said Tulane head coach Willie Fritz, praising the potential and caliber of FSU’s offensive coordinator, Alex Atkins. You may know offensive coordinators who started out coaching positions like quarterbacks or tight ends have it easier than others. In that scenario, becoming an offensive coordinator with a few years of experience was not easy for Atkins.

However, describing his own journey, he said, “A lot of O-line coaches feel like they are coordinators anyway,”. So, you get the idea that an offensive coach and an offensive coordinator are not the same, there is some difference. Moreover, Norvell, FSU coach, said, “I believe in coach Atkins. He is one of the best leaders of men that I’ve been around,” praising Atkins’ coaching style. Let me tell you more about the dedicated and hardworking offensive coach of the FSU.

Alex Atkins’ coaching career

This year, FSU’s offensive coach, Alex Atkins, has entered his third season with the team. Not to forget, he joined Florida State as the team’s offensive line coach in 2020. After that, in 2022, he was promoted and got the position of the team’s offensive coordinator. However, his coaching journey started at UT-Martin in 2007, working as a graduate assistant. Along with that, he joined Itawamba Community College in Mississippi as the team’s offensive line coach in 2010. Meanwhile, he joined several programs as a coach, such as Tulane, Charlotte, and so on.

Tulane hired him as the assistant head coach and offensive line coach in 2016. Later, in 2019, he served as the offensive coordinator as well as offensive line coach for the Charlotte 49ers. In addition, he was recognized with all-conference honors twice during his time as a player. Presently, the talented coach prepares his team for more challenges. Atkins’ response to his suspension

After Monday’s practice, Atkins addressed his suspension, expecting everything to run normally despite his absence. Not to forget, he received this suspension after violating NCAA rules dating back to the spring of 2022. Due to this, the NCAA sanctioned the program for recruiting violations.

Following his suspension, he said, “Our job, as coaches, is to get prepared and make sure they get the information. They should be able to handle it as old as they are.Presently, it is expected because of this incident, Atkins may not be on the sidelines for Florida State football’s seasonal opener against Georgia Tech this year. Currently, the talented coach puts his heart and soul into shaping his players. Let’s wait and watch the performance of FSU under Atkins.
