For Cederian Morgan, playing for the Alabama Crimson Tide was a dream come true. Committing to a program that has won six national championships in the past two decades was enough for him to give his pledge to Nick Saban’s legacy. What’s truly captivating is that he is yet to take his first snap as a freshman, and the locker room is already in awe.

“He’s going to be a great player here,” Starting wide receiver Germie Bernard praised Morgan’s dedication. “I am excited to watch his growth. He’s a big receiver, he listens very well (and) he takes coaching. He’s eager to learn, and he’s been really, really good giving our guys on the scout team a look.”

“It’s exciting to see a guy like that come here early. It really helped me in the long run, and I think it’s gonna help him elevate him more, elevate his game.”

After snuffing out QB John Mateer’s offense, Alabama is heading towards the Rose Bowl against Indiana. While the practice drills are underway, DeBoer’s early enrollee squad is present at Bryant-Denny, sharing reps with the veterans. Class of 2026 No. 5 wide receiver Cederian Morgan is another face on that list, winning over the locker room approval.

While the team is going through grueling practices for the quarterfinals, Morgan is showing brilliant flashes on the scout team. And the offensive coordinator, who is presently burdened with improving Bama’s run game “shenanigans”, couldn’t agree more.

“I know Cederian (Morgan) has been doing an awesome job over with the scout team for the defense, which is really cool,” OC Grubbs shared.

To say Morgan hadn’t been prepping for his moment would be an understatement. Coming off an impressive 12-2 high school record, taking the Wildcats to the top program in the region (6-0), he has played an integral part in the Wildcats’ offense. The program advanced to the All-Outlook Team, with Morgan being named the Offensive Player of the Year. After making it big at the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game (40-10), where he snagged a 17-yard touchdown from QB Brock Bradley, the 6’4, 220-pound receiver did not stop and had his priorities laid out – playing snaps at Tuscaloosa.

“That’s my number one goal,” he said in a conversation with Touchdown Alabama. “Put my head down and work, and be a day one starter on the field, and just be able to help the team out.”

Now, already part of that “winning culture”, Morgan is playing reps with QB Ty Simpson. However, while the practice drills are impressive, will they be enough to sustain a robust run game against Indiana?

With a few days to go for the clash, offensive coordinator Ryan Grubbs is making sure that Bama does not repeat its mistakes that have already handed them two costly losses.

QB Ty Simpson’s arm might be doing the heavy lifting, but when it’s time for the run game to prove its mettle, it withers under pressure. However, not anymore.

“We’ve got to stop doing these first-quarter shenanigans, waiting to get the run game going until the second and third quarters,” OC Grubbs shared with the media. “We’re capable of doing it earlier in the game. We’ve got good enough players. The schemes are in place; we just have to execute them earlier in the football game.”

For weeks, Alabama’s offense fizzled out to one dimension under immense pressure. It already cost them the SEC title against Georgia. But now, the stakes couldn’t be higher. One slip-up or a miscalculated route, and Bama’s national championship hopes will go down the drain. For that to happen, the O-line needs to brace itself against Curt Cignetti’s elite defense.
