Before even appearing in the WNBA, Caitlin Clark attracted a lot of naysayers. Some are criticizing her for not winning the NCAA championship with Iowa Hawkeyes, even with 2 consecutive final attempts. Others feel she is simply not ready for the jump into the big leagues. Amid all this scrutiny, she has received support from Patrick Beverley.

The Milwaukee Bucks player on his podcast supported Clark and gave a strong reply to her critics. On The Pat Bev Podcast with Rone with Adam Ferrone, they spoke about the WNBA legends dismissing Clark’s abilities and being insecure about her debut. Ferrone revealed about the hate Clark’s been receiving “Other former UConn players being like oh wow unless she wins the championship she’s not stamped. She did that at Iowa. She didn’t do this at UConn, where everybody is McDonald’s All-American. She transformed the program (Iowa).” Beverley replied saying “Listen it shouldn’t even be you explaining yourself about this one. She has the most points boys and girls.

The conversation started when Ferrone asked Beverley who would he choose first between Bronny James and Caitlin Clark. Beverley said since has watched more of Clark he will definitely choose her over LeBron James‘ son. Continued how people’s perception of Clark is still 50-50 about her WNBA performance. Yet he believes 100% that her display in NCAA will translate to WNBA. Beverley understands the situation Clark is in and even compares it with the Golden State Warriors’ GOAT.

Beverley compares Caitlin Clark’s journey with Stephen Curry

Ferrone on the podcast questioned the former WNBA players for not appreciating Caitlin Clark enough. Especially Diana Taurasi. “The reality is coming,” with such comments. During the NCAA’s Final Four game with ESPN on their “The Bird and Taurasi Show,” fans noticed the dismissive behavior of the former players towards Clark. Showing support on social media and calling out them for this behavior.

Beverley who has been playing professionally since 2008, compared how Stephen Curry was treated back in the day. A lot of people had a problem with Curry shooting 3-pointers and encouraged him to shoot closer and not to take risky shots. But now he holds the record for NBA all-time Most 3-pointers. So Clark should continue with what she is good at since “She got that s**t.”
