Angel Reese Stuns Women’s Basketball Fans With Surprise Move

We have seen the Bayou Barbie shatter barriers off the court. She became the first female athlete to have her own McDonald’s meal, graced a limited-edition Reese’s Puffs cereal box, joined the host committee for the 2025 Met Gala, and made history as the first professional athlete to walk in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

At this point, her off-court resume rivals her on-court dominance. But opening a culinary school, as she revealed to Women’s Health, was not on anyone’s bingo card.

The last few days have been turbulent for Rickea Jackson. The WNBA forward became part of an off-court storm after Atlanta Falcons linebacker James Pearce Jr. was arrested Saturday in Miami-Dade County following what authorities called a domestic dispute involving Jackson.

According to the police report, the Atlanta Falcons linebacker allegedly followed Rickea Jackson’s car, intentionally struck her vehicle multiple times, and attempted to block her from entering the Doral Police Department, where the complaint was later filed.

While the women’s basketball world continues to show its support for Rickea Jackson, hoping for her swift return to action, a new update has emerged from Unrivaled in the aftermath of the incident.

Jackson was originally set to face Kahleah Copper in the opening round of Unrivaled’s one-on-one tournament. However, it has now been confirmed that she will no longer participate, a move that comes as no surprise in light of recent events.

Mikayla Blakes: The Next Caitlin Clark?

We need to talk about Mikayla Blakes more. As a freshman, the Vanderbilt Commodores star turned heads with multiple 50-point explosions. Now in her sophomore year, Blakes has made one thing clear. She is not here for hype. She is here to take over.

She is currently the nation’s leading scorer at 25.9 points per game, tied with Audi Crooks of Iowa State. But what makes Mikayla Blakes even more impressive is the weight she carries for Vanderbilt.

Blakes operates with the nation’s eighth-highest usage rate, according to The Athletic. She is not just scoring. She is creating, averaging 4.6 assists per game alongside her scoring output. On the other end, she sets the tone defensively, anchoring Vanderbilt’s pressure system and averaging 3.1 steals per game, which ranks 18th nationally.

Over her last three games, Mikayla Blakes has erupted for 101 points. That kind of scoring performance does not go unnoticed. Her head coach made sure of it, drawing comparisons to the likes of Caitlin Clark in the process.

“It feels like in a year without Caitlin, without Paige, without JuJu, Mikayla is the next logical person to be the star of this sport. Why has this come along so slowly, to where she feels under-discussed, and she’s had back-to-back-to-back 30-plus point games and is one of the scoring leaders of the country?” Shea Ralph said.
