“Need to Play More ITF Challengers” – Eugenie Bouchard Aims to Gain Her WTA Rankings

Former Wimbledon finalist Eugenie Bouchard has said that with her current ranking, she is looking forward to playing as many Challenger events as she can.
The Canadian player is gradually getting back in the scheme of things after the long break to the tennis tour. Speaking about her plans ahead as she strives to get back to her best, Eugenie Bouchard said that she would like to mix things up with events.
On playing ITF Challenger events with WTA events

She plans to play more Challengers events on the ITF Tour along with WTA events, as she is languishing outside the top-300 in the world rankings.
“It’s going to be tricky for sure.. With my ranking, I definitely need to play some ITF Challengers, which is good for me to play anyway because I need matches. Get those wins, get that confidence back,” Bouchard said, on a podcast recently.

“I don’t think the ITF schedule is fully released yet so we’re still in the dark which is tough,” she added.
“I want to play as many matches as I can and mix it up. With the ITF matches, I want to play on the WTA Tour as well at whichever events I can get wild-card entries into. So I want to start there,” the world number 332 further said.
Need to keep striving for more, says Eugenie Bouchard
Throwing light on a career in tennis and also on the whole, the 26-year-old also said that it is important to not rest on your laurels and keep striving for more.

“Whatever you have accomplished, no one can take that away from you. At the same time, you don’t want to let that make you complacent or relax or rest on your laurels,” Bouchard said.
When asked what she would now like to tell her younger self, Bouchard said, “I think you need to find the right balance. You want to appreciate it in the moment and I think only time can help you appreciate it more.”
“While you’re in your career if you want to keep going, you have to constantly want to strive for more. So its a balance for sure,” Bouchard added.
