Preview-

A New Derby awaits the Sunday evening with one team at the bottom of the Eastern conference and the other team closer to the bottom than to the top.

The Nets are coming off a win against Sacramento Kings, but their major concern will be the lay off period of Kyrie Irving. In their victory, Spencer Dinwiddie registered 23 points, which included seven free throws. He also contributed with seven assists.  Joe Harris also contributed with 22 points in the victory. Overall, the Nets had 22 assists to 18 turnovers in the game. The Nets stand seventh in the Eastern Conference with seven wins and eight losses.

The Knicks, on the other hand, are struggling at the bottom of the Eastern Conference. They have lost their last two games against Philadelphia 76ers (109-104) and San Antonio Spurs (111-104).

One of the very few positives in their last two losses was the performance of Marcus Morris. After a double double against the 76ers with 22 points and 13 rebounds, he finished Saturday’s game with 20 points and 7 rebounds. The Knicks will be looking for a significant improvement in their 4-11 win-loss record so far.

The Knicks would take confidence from the fact that they have won seven out if their last 10 games against the Nets.

Injury updates & team news-

The major blow for the Nets will be that Kyrie Irving out indefinitely. Kevin Durant is nowhere near making his return from his achillies injury, and the kind of players injured is visible in the result they are bringing out.

As compared to the Nets, the Knicks remain a healthier side, and that might mean that they have an edge over their opponent on Sunday.
