They might have hoped for a little more but New Zealand, on Friday, clinched the third place in the Rugby World Cup with a 40-17 win over Wales.

In the final few seconds of the match, when New Zealand were in a comfortable position to finish the match with a comprehensive win, Wales’s Hallam Amosen ensured that the match would not end in a dull fashion.

Amosen desperately tried to stop Anton Lienert-Brown making his way through the Wales defense. In his attempt, he caught hold of Lienert-Brown’s shorts, which were pulled down- exposing his bare bottom.

The victory of All Blacks came after a disappointing defeat in the semi-finals against England.

“It was just important we come back and honoured the jersey and our fans and get over the disappointment of last week,” Steve Hansen said, referring to the semi-final defeat by England. “Tough old game for both sides and just want to congratulate Wales too because I know they’ll be feeling a bit at the moment.”

The defeat for Wales meant that they are yet to defeat New Zealand ubder Getland. Wales have won 85 of their 151 Tests, but have lost all 12 matches against his native New Zealand.

“Our boys never gave up and kept trying to play some good rugby in the second half. Probably a game too far for us really,” said the New Zealander, who will now coach the Waikato Chiefs.

“I’ve loved my time in Wales. People have been amazing and incredibly welcoming. But that era’s over now and I’m excited about the next challenge going back to New Zealand and being involved with the Chiefs.”
