Charles Barkley is one of the most entertaining personalities in basketball. However, he has done that by being a painfully honest man on camera. That painful honesty came up to the surface when Barkley appeared on the ‘Winging It’ Podcast to talk with Vince Carter and Annie Finberg. He spoke about the NBA Analyst that he hates the most. Skip Bayless.

“I hate Skip Bayless. What drives me crazy is that when he misses a game, instead of saying ‘Hey, I was wrong’, he gives you an excuse for everything a team did wrong. I am like, ‘yeah, that’s why they play the game’.

“We’re all just kinda guessing who’s going to win a game. But if you’re going to make a prediction and then get on TV and say ‘this is why they lost’. Yeah, we know that is why they lost. But you gotta be man enough or woman enough to say I was wrong.”

Charles Barkley and his predictions this post-season

Considering how Barkley touched upon Skip and how he gives excuses for his failed predictions, let’s look at Barkley. ‘Inside the NBA’ have always joked about Barkley’s ineptitude with regards to being a basketball journalist. Barkley opened the post-season by saying the Portland Trail Blazers will sweep the LA Lakers. Lakers responded by winning the series 4-1. He then picked the Rockets over the Lakers before the Lakers won that series. He also incorrectly predicted the series between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Miami Heat (Heat won 4-1) and the LA Clippers vs the Denver Nuggets (Denver won 4-3).

Barkley’s misses seem monumental, like the times he picked the underdogs, the underdogs lost. However, whenever he picks a favorite, the underdog wins. It has been backwards for Barkley so far. He has predicted an LA Lakers sweep over the Denver Nuggets for his latest majorly hyperbolic prediction. While the Lakers are up 2-0, a Barkley prediction just seems like a bad omen at this point.
