The New York Giants fell 24-20 to the Bears on Sunday, dropping to 2-8 on the season. That loss stung badly. And just when fans were trying to process it, a post started blowing up online claiming Brian Daboll was done. Fired. Gone. Suddenly, the Giants Nation was in panic mode. But hold up. The truth is a little less dramatic than the internet made it sound.

No, the Giants have not fired Brian Daboll. The whole rumor started with one fake post on X. A user named Wesley Steinberg, who calls himself an “insider,” dropped this line that got everyone talking: “BREAKING: #Giants are firing HC Brian Daboll.”
However, that account has a history of doing this. It’s known for posting fake “breaking” news just to stir reactions. It’s kind of its thing. And this one worked perfectly. The post about Daboll’s firing racked up more than 2.5 million views before the truth even began to spread.

Still, it’s not like Daboll’s completely safe. Sure, the rumor was fake, but the pressure is real. The Giants are struggling, and fans are restless. For now, Daboll still has his job, and no credible NFL insider has said otherwise. Even so, the seat under him is definitely heating up. Losing streaks don’t go unnoticed in the Big Apple.
And there’s more fuel to the fire. After the week 7 loss, Mike Florio already reported that Daboll is in hot seat.

“With the Giants suffering another defeat snatched from the jaws of victory on Sunday, some will wonder whether Giants coach Brian Daboll is on the verge of having his time with the team end. And there’s one specific reason for it. Last week, a couple of different reports emerged that Giants co-owner John Mara was poised to fire Daboll after the Week 7 debacle in Denver, but that Mara was talked out of it.”
Now that the Giants have dropped their fourth straight, the question lingers: will ownership finally make a move? Or is Daboll getting one last shot to save the season?

Patience with Brian Daboll is running out
The Giants fans are running out of patience. Many have started questioning Daboll’s decision-making, arguing that he’s losing control of the locker room and the game plan. Social media is flooded with posts like “Replace Daboll NOW!!” and calls for change are everywhere. The team’s struggles over the last two seasons have only added to the tension.
Amid all the noise, Brian Daboll finally spoke up. The Giants’ head coach, who’s been sitting right in the middle of the storm, gave a calm but telling answer when asked about his job security.

“I’m just focused on these guys in the locker room.”
The Giants were up 17-10, sitting just a yard from breaking the game open. Instead of going for it, Daboll chose to kick the field goal. At first, it looked like a safe move. But it backfired fast. Caleb Williams led two straight touchdown drives, sealing a 24-20 Bears win. To make it worse, Dart left injured, and Russell Wilson couldn’t mount a comeback.
As soon as Wilson’s final pass hit the turf, FOX’s Greg Olsen didn’t hold back. He ripped Daboll for that goal-line field goal, and fans agreed.

That single call may have cost the Giants the game. Blown leads have become their calling card, and now, the calls to fire Daboll are only getting louder.
