Pete Carroll has officially bid adieu to the Seahawks. After 14 seasons and a Super Bowl title, this Seattle Seahawks legend initiated a “mutual decision” with the squad as they decided to part ways. After ending the season on a winning note, the management has decided that the franchise requires a different direction, and the 72-year-old was all for it. He repeatedly mentioned just how much the Seahawks staff meant to him and got emotional concerning the same.

Carroll appeared in a press conference and informed the media about the upcoming changes to the franchise. However, the coach’s heart-warming words were the major takeaways from this presser. The Super Bowl-winning coach reminisced about the people he had worked with and wished his best to the franchise; particularly mentioning the general manager of the team.

“I’ve been blessed with like the rarest of best friends, mentors, loving partner, the angel in my life,” said the coach as he dropped a tear and added the five-word message for the team, “This is worth crying for.” He pointed out how he had people around him that will give him “crap” for everything that he did wrong and kept him grounded in reality. Further, Carroll added how his crew’s loyalty came from “rash criticisms” and how grateful he was for the experience.

In Carroll’s position, it is important that every decision he makes is right, and rightly so, he has a system around him that lets him know that he is messing up. Additionally, he praised the team’s culture that he and his mates have developed over the years. These heartfelt words of the coach were soon followed by his gratitude for the rest of the coaching staff. Undeniably, his departure marks the end of an era for the Seattle team.

The next step for the Seattle Seahawks

For now, John Schneider holds the beacon to find a new head coach for the dwindling Seahawks team. There are no prospects as of yet and Carroll asserted that it is not his responsibility to choose the next head coach when questioned about his involvement in the process. He went on to say that his advice would be to recognize the importance of the relationship and how salient it is since you work as a team.

Basketball has stuck with me ever since I was a kid. I remember watching Kobe Bryant sometime in 2008 and being blown away. Like every kid my age, I was utterly taken aback by his moves and abilities as an athlete.
