Some people might agree that the NFL used to be tougher back in the day, especially during the Tom Brady era. Addressing the same on the Stephen A. Smith show, Brady briefly spoke about the mediocrity in the NFL these days. Pat McAfee hopped on the bandwagon and talked about the same with his regular weekly guest Aaron Rodgers. With Rodgers still being a part of the playing dynamics and knowing the on-field workings as a Jets’ member, his accordance with Brady’s arguments indicates a lot about the league in the present era.

In a recent episode, Pat McAfee was seen talking to Aaron Rodgers about Tom Brady’s latest comments on the Stephen A. Smith show.  Brady had mentioned, “I think there’s a lot of mediocrity in today’s NFL and I don’t see the excellence that I saw in the past.”

He was quick to add, “The rules have allowed a lot of bad habits to get into the actual performance of the game. So, I think the product in my opinion is less than what it’s been.” Aaron Rodgers on the show mentioned that he did see the clip and looked to be in agreement with his fellow QB.

Rodgers addressed how back in the day, QBs had to be smart to not get their players hurt. They would throw the ball as high as they could to avoid the players from getting tackled, making it a “mind game” along with a physical one. These days, the coaches are hell-bent on implementing rules that inherently favor the QB.

“I think if I am looking at this from a big picture, there is a softening of society that caused things like this,” was the Jets QB’s comment on the current structure. He was quick to remark how “people don’t want to see the violence,” and hence, it has always been the technique that mattered the most in the world of the NFL.

One fan under Dov Kleiman’s tweet targeted Brady for being unfair to the present players as he himself had facilitated the rule that gave him protection during his years on the field.

Basketball has stuck with me ever since I was a kid. I remember watching Kobe Bryant sometime in 2008 and being blown away. Like every kid my age, I was utterly taken aback by his moves and abilities as an athlete.
