It’s not every day that you see the coach of a team praise another team’s QB. However, that’s just how the Patrick Mahomes’ magic works. He now has 3 Super Bowl MVPs under his belt. And can also boast of back-to-back Super Bowl wins. There’s one person who already saw the making of a great QB in him.

And he may have never coached the Chiefs, but he isn’t afraid to give credit where it’s due. And he had just last year placed on Mahomes the best title a QB could get.

Cowboys’ HC gives props to Patrick Mahomes

Jimmy Johnson sat down with The Herd with Colin Cowherd host on his podcast. And guess what? He was part of the scouting squad just before Mahomes was drafted. So, he knew him even before he threw his first football in a normal NFL game. And he was floored right from the moment he met him. Johnson couldn’t stop showering praise on him. “He is amazing and that he is an extremely smart quarterback, knowing how to win games, uh he can throw the football with accuracy from any platform.”

All this coming from a former Cowboys coach. He also addressed another reservation people had about Mahomes. They say that he is not very athletic. But Johnson shut them down with just three words: “Watch him scramble”.

Agreed, he may not be the king of the rushing game like Lamar Jackson, but he’s certainly not very behind on the list. And then the HC said something that any QB would kill to hear.

Mahomes the GOAT of football?

He began by saying,

“It’s on record. uh after the Super Bowl a couple years ago I went up to him I said you’re the greatest quarterback I’ve ever seen I’ve never seen.” And mind you, he’s not some ordinary HC. He’s been a coach since 1965! He knows a GOAT when he sees one. And right now, he’s placing his bets on Mahomes.

He’s just 28. And has already made NFL history with six AFC Championship Game appearances, four Super Bowl appearances, and three championships. His three Super Bowl MVP awards are unmatched by any active QB. And Mahomes is the first QB since Tom Brady to win back-to-back championships. Patrick Mahomes is also the second player ever to earn consecutive Super Bowl MVP honors, a feat Brady never achieved.
