Christian McCaffrey is a household name in the NFL. But guess who’s turning heads now? It’s his younger brother, Luke, making some serious noise at the NFL Combine. Luke, a prospect from Rice University, really showed what he’s made of during those on-field drills, leaving everyone impressed.

Now, Christian, he made quite a splash back in his college days at Stanford, even getting some Heisman Trophy buzz in 2015. But Luke’s journey hasn’t been as smooth. After a short stint as a quarterback at Nebraska, he made the move to Rice, switching gears to become a wide receiver. Sure, he might not have the same name recognition as his big bro, but let me tell you, Luke’s got skills for days.

Luke McCaffrey beats older brother’s record

The NFL Network recently posted a video where they pitted the performances of the McCaffrey brothers against each other. It turns out that Luke narrowly outpaced Christian by a mere hundredth of a second, with a time of 4.47 compared to Christian’s 4.48 in the 40-yard dash. Throughout the Combine so far, CMC has been nothing but supportive of his brother. He’s been actively sharing analysts’ posts about Luke on his X account, showing his unwavering support every step of the way.

What about the other stats? The 10-yard split was exactly the same at 1.52 seconds. For the vertical jump, CMC beat his brother at 37.5″, whereas Luke recorded 36″. Broad jump again both recorded the same number, while for the 3-cone drill, CMC inched forward again. But it seems like when it comes to speed, Luke is faster as he again bested his older brother at the 20-yard shuttle.

The borthers are surely talented, but it seems that football runs in the family, as several McCaffreys have been associated with the sport.

The McCaffrey football tradition

The McCaffrey family has a rich football heritage, so it’s no wonder another brother is making waves at the NFL Combine. The eldest McCaffrey sibling, Max, quarterbacked for Duke before a brief stint in the NFL. Meanwhile, Dylan, another brother, is currently making plays as a quarterback at Northern Colorado. Their father, Ed, made his mark as an NFL wideout for over a decade.
