The San Francisco 49ers quarterback situation has reached its final level. It was one of the most scrutinized topics in the last two weeks, especially after Mac Jones’ strong performances. And now the 49ers have reached a conclusion with regard to their starting QB, Brock Purdy, for the next game. Their tight end, George Kittle, shares his thoughts on his team’s decision.

While addressing the media, Kittle talked about Brock Purdy’s return amid Mac Jones’ benching.
“Well, the good news is I played with Brock for several years now. Won a lot of football games. Caught a lot of passes from him. I spent an entire off-season with him. So, I think that will get going pretty fast.”

He believes that both quarterbacks are talented and have done their fair share of jobs. But he’s looking forward to sharing the field with Purdy again.

However, his take is not wrong; even after a strong performance, Mac Jones lacks a bit of edge against Purdy. The quarterback fits in the Kyle Shanahan system very well. The 49ers offense works on motion, rhythm, and it demands the quarterback to extend his plays when the structure breaks down. Purdy surely knows how to do that.
Mac Jones has done a great job. Even his last game was amazing, where he threw for 319 yards and three touchdowns. However, Purdy brings that dynamic dimension to the field.

Even NFL analyst Mark Schlereth believes that. ”If Brock Purdy is healthy and there is no further risk of injury, I would go back to Brock because he gives that element of athleticism and escapability. Your more dynamic offense is currently constructed with the players that you have if you go back to Brock Purdy. Things that you have to contend with as a defense that Mac Jones doesn’t have.”
Kyle Shanahan opens up on the quarterback position
With the 49ers deciding to go with Brock Purdy as their starting quarterback in the next game against the Cardinals, speculation about Jones’ talent has been rising. Now, the head coach, Kyle Shanahan, himself put an end to the controversy.

“It’s not a hard decision,” Shanahan told reporters on Wednesday. “It’s just more about Brock’s health. It’s been awesome how Mac has played. He has been great. But, we’ve got a lot of confidence in Brock and we know Brock will play at a high level too as long as he’s healthy.”
It was not a hard decision, especially when we look at Purdy’s record against Arizona. He has a passer rate of 120.4 against them in the four starts. It’s the highest by any other player who has started against them at least three times.
The head coach didn’t stop there; he continued to explain his take on the brewing controversy. ”Any time a backup quarterback comes in and plays good, that’s all anyone talks about.”

He then added, “I don’t think anyone talks about what people have done in the past, whether it’s Brock or whether it’s anybody. That’s just how the world works with media or anybody. So, I don’t look too much into that stuff at all.”
With Purdy as their starter, the 49ers are all set to face the Cardinals in the coming week. Can Purdy help the Niners pick up another win?
