It has been 55 years since the New York Jets won the Super Bowl. The last time they won was Super Bowl III in 1969 against the Baltimore Colts at the Orange Bowl stadium in Miami, Florida. However, after a long season gap, the franchise once again saw their Super Bowl dreams in 2023, when they acquired Aaron Rodgers to lead the team.

But, due to unfortunate situations, the arguably much-hyped Rodgers couldn’t even wrap up a single game. And the dreams of the second Super Bowl shattered for the Jets, the organization, and the faithful. But now as the offseason is going on, the trades are underway, Rodgers is coming back prepared after his Achilles surgery, and the Jets are once again reviving their dreams of the Super Bowl. But first, they had to clear their divisional game, AFC East. And a former WR thinks the Jets can win this one if they have two players beside them.

In a latest episode of I Am Athlete, former NFL wide receiver Brandon Marshall picked out two names for Aaron Rodgers and the Jets, who, according to him, if fulfill the two conditions, can help the team to win the AFC East. So, these two weapons are: Mike Williams and Garrett Wilson. In the viral video clip on X, Marshall could be heard saying, “This is a huge pickup by the New York football Jets. This could change the landscape in the AFC. Aaron Rodgers having a healthy Mike Williams and Garrett Wilson, they win this division.

Marshall praised Wilson’s skills, likening him to a top-tier wide receiver, emphasizing his dynamic abilities, size, speed, agility, and ball-handling skills. However, he acknowledged concerns about Williams’ availability because of injuries. Marshall speculated that this signing could be one of the Jets’ best moves, even humorously comparing it to his own acquisition by the team in 2015. Nonetheless, the Jets have Wilson, and they recently acquired Williams to their roster on a one-year, $15 million contract.

The newly signed wide receiver Mike Williams is thrilled to join the team for the 2024 season. His excitement isn’t just about the warm reception he received from a devoted fan during his visit. Williams, who previously played for the Chargers, expressed that he sees the Jets as a perfect fit for him. According to Jets’ team reporter, Ethan Greenberg, “Mike Williams on why he chose to sign with the Jets: “I felt like it was a great fit for me.” Wanted to play with Aaron Rodgers; said the dynamic between him and Garrett Wilson on the field reminds him of the dynamic with Keenan Allen.”

Williams shared with the media his belief that the chemistry between himself and Wilson resembles that he had with his former teammate Keenan Allen, who is now with the Bears. Despite both Williams and Allen facing injuries in recent seasons, in 2021, when they both played full seasons, they exceeded 1000 receiving yards. Wilson, on the other hand, achieved 1000 receiving yards in his first two NFL seasons. With Williams expected to return healthy from his ACL injury, he believes he’ll be ready to play by Week 1.
